Thank you for this. Very informative, should try it out sometime. Not a photographer but I like pretty photos.

Switch to English wiktionary for pédale and it suggests also looking at the shorter version of the word, where it is explained where it comes from and - guess what - you're exactly right.

Also pederast comes from ancient greek which explains how widespread it is. Pede/pederast is commonly used in Estonian as well, as an insult. Usually just the equivalent of faggot, but boy lover

We just got this rule in Estonia too this year. Cash payment, round to nearest 5 cents, card payment, still exact number.

Personally, I've been trying to reduce both the green and the red to make my yellow bigger. This is possible because in my country, I can pay myself a moderate salary and still get health insurance. Then eventually I can pay myself dividends on the last year's profit when doing the annual financial report, and I can buy some things as business expenses (which makes them cost me about 60% less of my time compared to buying them as a private individual from post-tax income).

On the green front, I'm reducing it by 1) charging quite a bit of money for an hour of my time, definitely more than I got paid as a full-time employee 2) also having some foreign contracts where I can charge even more money and as a bonus, bring more money into my country

Now since all this still leaves me SIGNIFICANTLY less well-off than a lot of people who most certainly don't work 10, 100 or 100000 times harder than I do, this has actually turned me even more against capitalism than ever before (despite the fact that I literally make more money than I ever have before). I'm doing moderate tax optimization, about as much as I can do while still considering it ethical, work 200+ hours a month, and at the end of the day, while I might retire a millionaire, I'll never make it to a hundred million. Even 10 million is only possible with lucky breaks in investments.

The thing I hate the most about Sarah Andersen is how she must actively be watching how I live my life because of how accurate her comics are!

It's not bad financial advice either. You can get a free roof over your head if you get caught!

Though I hear being in prison in the US is expensive in its own right... Maybe not great after all

I'm a software engineer, I think I can be one of the 5 workers straight off the bat. Let's find 6 more people and we can have this eightsome working!

My friend's wife said they need to get "a bitch". Someone who does the tradwife things while both of them can do things they enjoy in life.

This was of course said in a joking tone, they're both very progressive people, and generally share the workload at home. Gender of said bitch wasn't specified either. Just saying this before anyone thinks my friends are horrible people lol

On a sidenote, don’t let anyone tell you european EVs are somehow worse than chinese (they are not). They’re just more expensive due to a fortunate lack of slavery, and generally higher standards of everything in the production chain compared to China.

You forget the lovely government subsidies of key industries in China, they subsidize goods for EXPORT. It's why BYD can sell such high quality cars at such low prices.

I'm still rooting for European EVs, but ffs, Mercedes has completely ruined their exterior designs (interior is subjective - personally I don't like so much screen real estate in a car interior, but other than that they still look nice inside), same for BMW. Audi has apparently somehow stayed just as unreliable with their EVs as their ICEs were. Volvo has the EX90 (bigger than I need and quite expensive) and the EX40 and 30 (both too small), but I did just learn that they're going to start making an ES90, which is more my size. I'd prefer a wagon of course, we'll see if they make an EV90 soon, but for now the ES90 is something to consider.

Edit: As much as I hate the front fascia, the i4 might be the car I should be looking at. I prefer lightly used to brand new and their prices are at a nice level now. Equipment is nice too.

But can we have some of the red circles be drawn with blue ink, and some with transparent ink?

Can we have one of the circles in the form of a kitten?

I honestly think commercial software offerings peaked in around 2010, and that's why they're all seeking rent now. They realized nobody wants to buy an annual new copy for incremental updates, but they also wanted more profit, not less.

There's still cool things happening in software, but now it's all incredibly niche, or FOSS projects that sometimes aren't all there yet, BUT do cool things that commercial software won't. Or incredibly niche FOSS projects.

Only if it's a diesel. Most older gasoline engines don't dirty the oil like this.
