Protest is now illegal. You will be brutally bashed by the police and locked up regardless how just the cause.

They are and have always been the blunt instrument with which the state monopoly on violence is maintained and exercised.

We are also subject to random roadside tax extortion based on whatever the fiction of the day happens to be. I would actually prefer the open faced honest corruption of simply being asked for a bribe to go on with my day ala India or Thailand. At least we don't need to pretend the interaction is anything other than what it is.

Imagine celebrating Xmas in QLD Australia. December 25th and 26th are often the most humid days of the year, or very close to it. Storm season is threatening, but not quite delivering so that humidity just builds and builds but rarely breaks.

It's so hot that nobody can sleep. Your house is filled with in-laws you can barely stand and their awful offspring screeching on everyone's final sleep deprived, sweat drenched nerve.

You shower three times a day, but you are dripping rivers of sweat again before you can get your fresh clothes on.

Everyone sits down to a massive hot Christmas meal (as is tradition) and the table is decorated with heavily snow themed decore. Snowmen feature heavily...for some reason none of the kids quite understand.

Nat King Cole croons in the background about chestnuts on an open fire.

Everyone drinks heavily, wishing they had never moved to this cursed continent.

Relationships are under new strain.

People talk about the looming climate crisis and you finally snap.

Looming?! This country has NEVER been fit for human habitation! Never!

Nat King Cole keeps crooning from some blessed snowy heaven but he's drowned out by the shrill of cicadas.

Now that you mention it, I am kind of an asshole.

We don't have a lack of morality. We're just aware of the role of police in society. They are the oppressors and everyone else is the oppressed.

If you want to lick the boot on your throat that's your choice. The rest of us just have to celebrate the small victories and hope there are more of them.

If this image isn't enough to convince you that the Catholic church is actually Luciferian then I don't know what is.

Our sense of humour is different than yours is all. If we couldn't laugh at ourselves and our mates we would kill ourselves.

Happening a little bit in Aus too. Super weird. Trans and cross dressing and every flavour of divergence from the norm has been generally pretty accepted in most metropolitan areas my whole life.

Suddenly everyone wants to get their pronouns in a twist and it's this big deal.

We can't seem to just let the USA have their own culture war, we import all of it. Sky News has a lot to answer for.

Constantly having to charge your phone...not really a flex.

Starlink won't beat FTTP or FTTN, but it sure as shit beats fixed wireless and sky muster.

Shit, just not having to deal indirectly with NBNCo every time there's a problem (multiple times per month) has got to be worth $100 per month to me.

No regrets. FUCK NBNCO sideways, with an axe.

I remember sitting in one of these classes and thinking that LSD and Mushrooms sound fucking awesome.

Turns out I was 100% correct.
