@[email protected] Uh-huh. Yep. Sure. Let’s give them every benefit of the doubt.

@[email protected] I bet you’re great fun at parties.

@[email protected] Mozilla is a not-for-profit that owns a half-a-billion dollar a year for-profit that gets its half-a-billion dollars a year from Google.

Or, as their head of public policy once told me: “Why are you being so hard on us? We’re just another Silicon Valley tech company.”

🤷‍♂️

@[email protected] 🤷‍♂️

At least they’re open source so you should be able to see exactly what information is being collected if you dive into the code.

@[email protected] @[email protected] No, they can’t dictate terms of use for forks without violating their own open source license.

Anything you say or do on Firefox may be used by Mozilla against you. You have the right to use a different browser. If you cannot find a browser that doesn’t fuck you over one way or another, one will not be provided for you because capitalism is working exactly as designed.

Native support for ed25519/x25519 in the browser would be a huge step forward for in-browser/client-side cryptography.

Looks like Google is holding up our ability to use it in production.

(Firefox and Safari both have support enabled by default.)

@DodoTheDev @Lokjo @librewolf @Vivaldi Yeah, although I just read that they’re using the manipulative “Maybe later” pattern in at least one of their dialogs so that would be a good thing to fix for the future (I’m using Vivaldi too as my default browser.)

The opposite of “Yes” is “No”, not “Maybe later.”

@Bro666 @[email protected] @[email protected] Which would make perfect sense if I had said “Plasma forces you to use Firefox.” Would you like any other straw men to rile against?

@Aaron @[email protected] @[email protected] Yes, to non-private defaults. Let’s put it this way: if Firefox’s defaults respected your privacy, Mozilla would go bankrupt tomorrow.
