My least favorite part of abrahamic religions is the concept of Eden. The idea that we were once perfect, and then we fucked it up. It's a myth that's so perverted and destructive and plainly opposite of the truth.

We're not angels falling from heaven.

We're monkeys building society out of nothing but mud.

It's pretty astounding, actually. Certainly things aren't perfect and never will be. But look for the helpers. The people who work to make the world better. Never believe anyone who tells you that everything is getting worse.

Just keep in mind that the scratchier the office chair, the more productive the worker... Up to a point, then you'll go mad.

Under state law, violations are punishable by up to $5,000, or triple the amount at issue, whichever is greater, and a third-degree felony charge.

Seems like a law that was actually written to have some teeth.

Your lover made a minor faux pas? They're a sociopath and they never loved you.

I bite my thumb at thee

Things that are common among rape survivors as coping mechanisms:

-Dark humor about rape
-Fantasizing about sex that looks like rape as a way to reestablish a feeling of control

These are not universal experiences - everyone processes differently - but they are common. Feeling shame about them is also common, or being told that they invalidate victimhood.

I believe you're trying to help, so I'm not mad at you. But you aren't helping.
