Love that imagery. It’s any tokens too, so two… foods or treasures driving a car somehow.

Wow most of these cards seem super cute to me and I'm really glad for it, it's a breath of fresh air and I think a lot of artwork brings back a sense of whimsy that's been really missing for a long time! I love it too.

Never thought I’d see artwork like this in a Standard set again, this is really nice and reminds me old school artwork.

Off topic but that typo made me actually lol

This is so interesting, thinking about it now I’ve never associated the wedges or shards with themes or qualities, just individual representative cards or decks I guess.

Bant is Noble Hierarch for me, and Abzan/Junk is Seige Rhino. Esper is Raffine, Jeskai is Narset, RUG/Temur I think of RUG Delver. Grixis is Mishra or Nicol Bolas.

Sultai I still always call BUG and will forever. I always think of Shardless BUG from Legacy a while ago, and I guess this one is the exception because I think of actual bugs too.

Ah yeah you’re right I missed that, that definitely is downside, pretty decent even

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Is this just a straight up 2/2 for 1 with no downside (and potential upside even)? I know Isamaru being legendary is very little downside but I don’t think this has ever existed?

Holy cow actual nonbasic hate in standard? I love this. Price of Progress is a really strong effect and I’m curious if this makes it into other formats too.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 11 months ago

Oh yeah, I’m just being a bit tongue in cheek. I also wish they aligned the art and type a bit better with power and toughness, but with power creep that ship is long gone. This one just seemed particularly hilarious.

Is this the first Standard legal card with Threshold since Judgment?

How does a mouse have a base 3/4 stat line!? Better than this massive rhino and almost all other “veterans.” Blocks profitably against this jacked centaur veteran!

These are so nice, reminds me of the seasonal Mishra’s Factory and Urza lands from Antiquities

I know that's a huge pain but the spoiler posts and near total coverage of LCI here has been wonderful.

Lost Caverns of Ixalan has a bunch of new abilities coming, with Explore also making a comeback.

  • Discover {X}: exile cards from the top of your library uintil you exile a nonland card with mana value X or less. You can cast the card without paying its mana cost or put it into your hand. Then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.

  • Descend {X}: triggers or enables an ability if there are X or more permanent cards in your graveyard.

  • Craft {X}: exile this card, exile any other listed card types from the battlefield or graveyard, and pay {X}. Return this card transformed. Craft only as a sorcery.

  • Explore: reveal the top card of your library. Put that card into your hand if it's a land. Otherwise, put a +1/+1 counter on this creature, then put the card back or put it into your graveyard.

Incredibly comprehensive overview of the sales figures and other considerations that went into WOTC replacing draft and set boosters with the new play boosters.

I wanted to hit a planeswalker and the creature it created, but this notably hits Fable of the Mirror Breaker, Wedding Announcement, Gruff Triplets, and some other non-walkers.

I'm pretty sure this works under the existing rules and you can "remember" a token's creator, but not 100%.

The new owner hasn't been revealed yet but they did have this to say:

We're not quite ready to let people know who the new stewards are, but we can tell you that Cardsphere is being taken over by a major player in the greater Magic community. If you play Magic, you have absolutely used their services.

Hope this means that they grow the service!
