I really like this variation on the traditional one mana save spell. An extra mana and you can potentially do some cooler things in combat, even go for the win aggressively.

Build your own Geist of Saint Traft. The first strike helps on this guy but the saddle cost seems high (obviously with 0 info on how saddle plays out yet!)
Man is this kinda pushed or what? We get straight up 6/5 tramplers for 4cmc now with (multiple) upside? Seems kinda crazy how far creatures are going but maybe I’m out of the loop.
Haha clearly the reference art
Wow cool to see Torpor Orb in Standard! It’s been 13 years and creatures with ETBs stapled on them have really grown since then. Curious how this shows up in the meta.
Wow this seems pretty tough to deal with and basically GG in Limited if you have at least another creature out
I haven’t read anything about it yet, the card just does nothing if you cast it without a spree cost? Seems like just another way of framing a split card.
Dang I was not! That’s nice alternate utility there, reminds me of Sign in Blood.
Wow Donato is a huge name/artist and long time MTG artist. This one is definitely not as egregious as others but I agree that the back arm and stairs (at least) are pretty damning, and the obvious other similarities aren’t helping.
Even if this was accidental, why she used reference art from such a well known artist in the same space is kinda strange, as is why she changed so little from it.
Awesome! I actually never knew there was an issue before #1 in 1994, this is so cool. Was this copy yours originally or did you get it recently? I started collecting all of the Duelists some years ago but never finished it, this might motivate me.
Looks like this might be a *scan of the whole thing for the curious: https://archive.org/details/the-duelist-0/mode/1up
ETA: scan not scam!
I guess this is the signpost uncommon for GW mounts? Looks really fun and it gives all mounts hexproof on your turn, not just mounted ones which is nice.
