No. Costs rise all the time. Ideally, so does your income, giving you mostly the same purchasing power as before - just because 10 is a larger number than the 8 you paid a year or two ago, doesn't mean you realistically expended more value (e.g. time spent working, or foregoing other things).

Rejiggering this would involve a lot of work. It would not give you any more or less value, it would be cosmetic. It would also be based on a very subjective "this shouldn't cost as much as $X" where both X and the rough value of the $ are... just something you happen to be used to. A trivial example is how this looks to anyone with a different currency, or to an American in a different time.

Now, of course, a large amount of people in the entire Western world have gotten shafted for 50 years plus, and the purchasing power has gotten even worse in the past 5, but that's basically a separate issue.

(Also, coins are pretty expensive compared to paper money, IIRC)

Imagine that you’d rather not deal with the Reddit admins, for whatever reason. You have two options: either you suck it up and deal with them, or throw away all Reddit content, communities and people, because of those admins.

Unfortunately the fediverse, at least in the Lemmy/kbin sense, doesn't solve that particular problem. This exact scenario can still happen because a community belongs to an instance, and that instance can still be maliciously or just ineptly managed. There are also added complications with federation, defederation, instance/community politics, and just dealing with "duplicate" communities in general.

For example, certain highly political instances host many communities that are not political, and have been known to silently ban people from the whole thing just because their politics were "wrong". Sounds Reddity to me.

This is true to a certain degree, but the cartel's way out of the bag on this one. They don't just produce/traffic substances, they're firmly entrenched and armed to the teeth. They are not going anywhere, even if you take one of their major cash cows away - they'd just pivot to something else.

Now, getting MDMA and psychedelics into a therapy setting is something I hope happens very soon, ideally long before anything is fully legalized as I imagine that will be a long time.

Fried eggs aren't too bad, you just need a decent nonstick pan.

Yeah, and Apple's used to be "Think Different", so?

OP disagrees, so therefore it's clearly Wikipedia being wrong.

You'll probably not be surprised to hear we have the exact same joke about Swedes.

In Norway, there's a specific "law" against causing dangerous situations by being inattentive, unpredictable, inconsiderate or reckless. Needless to say, it goes unenforced a lot, but if you wanted to nail someone for driving like a dipshit, it'd be a decent catch-all.

They just do engineering things.

I thought most of them were from the same guy. One or two were mildly funny, but posting basically the same joke a dozen times in a row is arguably not how to make it shine. Also, a couple people might have heard the ol' "DAE le USA le oil eggs dee" before.

I assumed they would try for feature parity at some point, but I think they forgot.
