yay!! tbh i feel like i squandered all the opportunities i was given when i was a teenager to connect with my heritage more, and now its a lot harder to do it. like i had the opportunity to learn gujarati but i mostly messed around in class and now i regret it

alsoi think hinduism is less of a monolith which makes it harder to be vocal about it, i suppose. and when they are vocal, it's in india and very related to islamophobia. at least in the uk where i live, hindus are either indifferent about preaching about their religion, but when they are super religious, they channel that preachy energy towards islamophobia

today is the final day of navratri!! every year i go to the mandir to do garba but this year i was sick and now i have work so i haven't been able to go, but i get to go today. im so excited

when i think about my indian-ness or hindu-ness, this is the only festival i really think of since its the only one i actively participate in where i feel like i belong. also its still hard trying to describe what garba is to white people lol

i read the guardian article comparing palestinian children being murdered by the idf to blood libel and i think this is the most disgusting guardian article I've ever read.
