We do live in the worst timeline, don’t we?

I named it after your first pet, Spike. It was Spike, wasn’t it?

According to a 2023 study, a day on Earth was approximately 19 hours for a significant part of Earth's early history

That headline plays fast and loose with “history” — history supposedly started in 1973?

Did we go to the same high school?

The driver was able to avoid the car stopped in the road to let the chicken cross. Instead of stopping behind them and waiting, they pulled out to cut around the stopped car.

I see this kind of behaviour all the time in my neighbourhood, at a crosswalk with a “kids crossing” sign and curb barriers designed to keep people from cutting around on the right. If someone is stopped to make a left hand turn, they cut on the right anyway, and if someone is stopped to let a kid or an animal cross (animals cross there all the time), they cut on the left.

People have been hit at that intersection. But people still keep doing it.

Why shocked? Temu essentially does an end run around most traditional regulatory controls. There’s a reason stuff’s so cheap on it.

I was waiting for the “…the rest have been deemed to not meet the definition of loyal American citizen, and so are no longer considered ’missing’.”

Impressive that there are only 3 still unaccounted for though.

The one thing I’m continually annoyed about though is battery management.

Why, in this day and age, do we not have a smartphone that can last on a single charge for a week? Instead, after a year or two of use, the devices with a glued in battery can barely last 8 hours on a charge.

Doesn’t seem all that smart.

And worried about the fact that NORAD won’t protect us from NORAD members.

“Papers, please.”

Best first step towards what you’re suggesting is probably for him to contact a local college and find someone there who can help identify the prominent academics to approach. Being able to say “Dr. Smith recommended I reach out to you about this” is going to be taken much more seriously than a cold call. Also, at least reading any public discussion threads that person is on before contacting them will give you a feel for how they communicate and what they think is important.

Am I the only one who misread the title to say that DDG was now hiding AI-generated images in your search results?

As in, they’re sneaking them in?
