The ~~mods~~ admins will be intouch with you

Ironically it's been so hard to get ahold of an admin recently.

I realized I didn't need actually it anymore, I found another way to find all my content using the pushshift torrents, see https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/47320/PSA-If-you-have-more-than-1000-posts-more-than - and once I had a copy of that I had a copy of the permalinks/ids i needed to delete/overwrite everything.

Note though that this may not be true of everyone - for example if you want your saved posts beyond 1000 (and these saved posts aren't your own or ones you commented on) then the above trick won't help since pushshift didn't have the saved post information.

Make sure you have that GDPR archive before you use shreddit. If you don't have one yet, timelines are being updated on https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/50981/Reddit-Data-Retrieval-Request-timeline-thread

Or if you don't want to wait, there's another way, see https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/47320/PSA-If-you-have-more-than-1000-posts-more-than

I wonder if it's a possibility that the entire powermod slack team protests this by blacking out all the subs they mod indefinitely until the ban is lifted.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

All other things aside, the specific reason for the ban seems to be unfair - this person would have been one of the "hey make me top mod of this sub and i'll make it public again" folks. Exactly the type that reddit admins want to keep.

They just keep shooting themselves in the foot.

We now know that even the SFW protests are working. Sure, regular traffic is back up, but what count are the ads.

https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/88139/Reddit-traffic-returning-normal-sort-of

TLDR; ad traffic specifically is down and continues to get lower, despite protest engagement bringing the ad revenue back up.

Check out https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/88918/Info-on-how-to-get-your-saved-reddit-data-and specifically to get your saved posts

Also check out https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/47320/PSA-If-you-have-more-than-1000-posts-more-than if you want to grab all your reddit content in general. Bonus: can grab nearly everything without needing to wait for the GDPR request.

Also check out https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/47320/PSA-If-you-have-more-than-1000-posts-more-than which explains how to get your own posts and comments, and is useful for folks who are waiting in frustrating while their GDPR requests have no responses, see https://kbin.social/m/RedditMigration/t/50981/Reddit-Data-Retrieval-Request-timeline-thread for those of us who are still waiting.

I didn't use save posts so didn't need to save anything, but it's enough to change one line in the textposts.py script from "reddit.user.me().submissions.new(" to "reddit.user.me().saved(" to pull those down.

Alas, if you have more than 1000 of these saved posts, there's no good way aside from the GDPR archive to find them - saved posts are private to a user so pushshift wouldn't have a copy of these.

It seems like the exact breakdown isn’t known but certainly without the protest traffic the traffic would be down by a significant chunk still.

None afaik. Only one I heard about that was going to give it a go was Relay but in the end it doesn’t matter.

The dev tried so hard but couldn’t make it work.

They may not need to. Already trained, already got the data that they need. Going forward they can just continue training with the input from
The users (all the folks talking to ChatGPT directly for example).

Basically the protests are still working. Even the John Oliver ones - reddit has to pay expenses to handle the traffic but are getting fewer revenue in response.

Keep up the good work people!
