I wanna see the chaos too!

Someone should get a fog machine so visibility in the packed office drops to zero, and hand out free vuvuzelas at the entrance.

If the telemetry is opt-in with a dialog window at first boot explaining why developers need telemetry, i don't see the problem. It's the difference between data freely given to help improve the system vs. data taken without consent to make you a better advertisement target.

edit: and i am pretty sure that the average FOSS-dev has way better ethics than the average microsoft data broker.

I can understand the emotional impulse, but i would change it to "active pedophiles". They can't really choose what arouses them, but they can choose not to act on those impulses - that is what counts. This distinction is important, because i would very much prefer if inactive pedophiles (who probably beat themselves up constantly, leading to emotional instability, depression and therefore a higher risk of becoming active) had easy access to ressources to help them stay inactive like therapy or the equivalent to Narcotics Anonymous.

omg so much shovelware and cheapest porn

i expected that the Nintendo eShop would be more curated, but this is no better than other stores - no, it's even worse, because parents fully have the same expectation that i had before seeing that, and many will just hand a nintendo device over to the kid without checking.

and 70$ for cyberpunk 2077 - it's a new console, not a new game ffs.

AFAIK, Wero has planned payment per NFC, but it might take a while. I wish some Austrian banks would have already joined in on Wero, but alas...

Wero already can transfer money between people btw, sending to phone numbers - if the other side already has Wero, it's direct, if not, they can supply a bank account for deposit

which still requires someone to swipe the phone and the owner not recognizing it long enough to do a remote wipe. I am not someone who hangs on the smartphone 8 hours per day, and even i would realize my phone is gone within 15 - 30 minutes, giving an attacker a pretty small time window to act.

e: and they have to break into the phone as well - if it's updated, that might buy more than enough time

I swear, every time i see Angry Autist, he has either anger issues or is nitpicking whatever rubbed him the wrong way. Even if he sometimes has a good point, he seems like an insufferable person. Should block him, but like i said, sometimes he has a point.

Hi, i've searched high and low for a solution to this issue and can't pin it down.

PC boots normal, i land in SDDM, i put in my passwort. screen goes black for a few seconds, and then i'm back at the login manager again. if i switch to the shell, i can login without issue and using startplasma-wayland, i get my desktop and everything is fine including video and gaming, so it's probably not nvidia-driver related.

i can't really find any issues in the logfiles, so it's probably a configuration issue. i already did a distro-sync and the system is updated fully.

has anyone a tip for me?

A Nobara Linux Desktop running KDE Plasma 6 with system stats using a vaporwave color scheme on the left, a drop-down terminal named Yakuake showing neofetch, a completely borderless browser window showing a Deezer web app on the center bottom, and weather and audio widgets on the right. The desktop background is animated with a wallpaper engine plugin, showing a cyberpunk city with the silhouettes of a few people rummaging through a giant heap of tech scraps, with one figure standing on top and looking into the bright city lights. Light fog is moving over the scene while it rains.

Hi people! I have been pirating for myself for over 30 years now, and with the ever growing size of warez and the laughable upstream limit my ISP has, i have come to the point where it's not practical to maintain a 1:1 ratio for all torrents anymore - my active torrent list keeps growing beyond practical limits, and i'm someone who wants to keep sharing things for the people after me, esp. torrents with low amounts of seeds.

I'm pretty sure that i know more than i think i do, but i would be happy about a few pointers to get started with a seedbox. i have beginner linux skills, advanced user skills, and not shy of reading manuals on how to get things to work. i have not tinkered with docker much yet, but i'm willing to learn.

Edit: From what i've learned and seen i tend towards an dedicated server since i might want to host other services for myself too, so suggestions for what hoster to look at are welcome!

Hi, i didn't find anything using the search, so i just wanted to know if any issues are known causing those error messages, which need a few reloads to resolve; additionally, voting on an post often takes 2, sometimes 5 or more tries.

i already tried:

  • logged in/out
  • with my VPN(Mullvad, on by default) and without
  • Firefox / Vivaldi / Edge
  • wired / wireless

and before i get into the weeds with the abyssmal support of my ISP i wanted to know if any of you have encountered the same issues.
