You can't have peace and be oppressing people, not really. If the oppressed stand up to the oppression, there will be fighting. So, it's more like the early stages of a fight. The same as when you're starting a campfire and you get a few embers, it's not really a campfire yet, but it's still a fire. In this case, the embers may last a long time, but the full fire is coming.

Also, in the definition of peace is tranquility. Oppression and tranquility do not overlap.

I think your take is probably just antiquated and contains a bit of sexism, homophobia, and racism. I don't mean to say that you are those things, but the roots of that take come from that position. You may have just adopted a take that was already out there and didn't challenge its premise at the time.

That's not the statistic I've seen. It was in the 30s last I saw. Among Republicans it was still fairly high, like 60s, and higher among MAGA, but the general public was much lower. Can you cite a recent source for your number? Otherwise, I'll bolo for some updated numbers.

Sometimes kids pull things out of mid air that you would never expect them to say and don't know from where they came. Sometimes those things are wise, are prophetic, are really weird, or are just really funny. If you don't raise an eyebrow sometimes, you're not enjoying your time with those kids enough. My kids are wise, prophetic, weird, and funny. Everyone around them gets a kick out of the stuff they say.

They invited all the presidents. You try to bring in those with the power to change things and convince them that their actions have meaning, even symbolic ones. So, they probably tried his first term. It's clear now that he doesn't care and is in no way willing to help. I suspect that the reason they're not inviting him goes beyond that. They're making a statement. They're signalling to those who support their mission.

I agree, but there's a difference between oversight and law enforcement there. If I am telling someone they need to justify restrictions in a behavior plan, that's different than something for which someone else may be arrested. In the former example, I think they should be able to wear an N95 for health reasons.
