In the 70s and 80s things were very much not in the shitter... You just had that nuclear war thing hanging over your head when you stopped to think about it.

If you didn't cook it with your own hands - don't trust it. My mom was an old school Italian who made everything from scratch - including sauces. I was lucky enough to be raised in that environment. Bless that lady - she didn't teach me but I watched. Today I love to cook but it's difficult and yeah expensive... it's not that much more if you do wise things. Today the wife and I will buy 2 whole chickens from Sams club ( 18 to 20 $ ) and carve them up ourselves into 7 or 8 bags of breasts.. wings, etc ( 35 to 45 $ if you buy it individually ) . The remains will be saved for stock or broth and put in bags in the freezer. We've re- taken up pressure canning. Every veg we use, all the trimmings we would have thrown out is saved and used in the stocks. We got some 2.5 foot long pork tenderloins from the same place - like my forearm thick for maybe 22 $ and I cut chops and made packs of 4. I got maybe 24 chops which would have cost well over 100 $ just for the hassle of spending some time in the kitchen with some tunes and a knife. You can stretch a budget quite a ways if you don't rely on purely convenience.

In one generation it's really changed from being a place where workers were valued and trained or developed. Now we are all ( and even many specialized jobs ),in a society where you are an undervalued disposable cog in the big wheel. Employers no longer care if you vanish. I've seen so many examples where they hire in someone new to replace the guru who quit that was utterly done with management and policy. The new person tries but has sparse training and unless they are a go getter they spew errors into the system rampantly. This is ignored by management while on time delivery slips past the goal posts. There's no documentation - this step gets skipped. I'm currently in a fortune 500 company and mostly just bitching about my gripes but how we run a business using the "everyone is disposable" mentality is costing companies billions. Senior management does not care.

I can't do the low sodium. I love V8 and have for years. Love adding hot sauces and it even passes for a low effort bloody Mary but taking the salt out of it is a deal breaker.

I painstakingly took a journey to hand delete each and every one of my posts and comments and then delete my user name. They got no free stuff outa me.

Awesome but I'm not really into those games. I might try one or two just to support the cause.

FIne not a Psyop - I for one agree with birthright just because it's purely American. We've always done it that way and that's what we do - we kick ass. Screw you wanting to change things. Whats next? This entire term has been coming for one freedom after another.

Lots less of us maintainer types than user types. User types like to pay for someone to fix it and buy a new one when that fails. There's no enlightening them. When more pc's come as Linux from the store and there is better support for a unified installer the real uptake won't happen.
