Just FYI your hypothetical would be the biggest electoral defeat for an American party in modern history and would probably force the Democrats to actually to be responsive to their base.

Maybe they’d learn their lesson. But if instead a non-negligible fraction don’t vote for Biden, he’ll likely still lose and the DNC definitely won’t learn their lesson.

But whether or not the DNC “learns their lesson” may be a moot point: the goals of the Republican Party include eroding the civil rights of LGBT, immigrants, and women, as well as dismantling our democracy in general. This is not coming from DNC propaganda, this is coming directly from the mouths of republicans, as well as examining their actions on all of these topics while Trump was in office.

I don’t expect Biden to make anything better. I do expect Trump to really, tangibly make things a lot worse. Again, this is no “what if”, Trump was president and did make things worse, and he and other republicans have stated their goals for next time.

As for making actual progress, if Biden wins this election, especially if he wins by a significant margin, then the Republican Party might rethink their strategy, which would lead to a much healthier election in the future. Additionally, after this election (if Biden wins) he won’t be able to run again and the DNC will have to pick some form of fresh blood. That’s a far better opportunity to actually work on improving the system.

Yes, voting for the party and candidates that I want to vote for based on my own convictions - which right now doesn't include any national Democratic candidates.

Sure sounds nice on paper, but what do you expect to achieve by doing this?

What do you think would happen if everyone who is disillusioned with Biden but isn’t a Trump supporter voted 3rd party?

You got a better plan?

If you’ve got a better plan I’m all ears, but I’ve never seen any actual alternative proposed.

You do have a point about it not being timegated, although because they are constantly releasing new warbonds, you constantly have to choose which content sounds enticing or not. It’s not reasonable to expect to get everything in this game, especially without paying more money, and that’s a form of FOMO tactics.

As for earning the “premium” currency in-game, most freemium games do this. Examples:

  • League of Legends and other MOBAs
  • Genshin Impact and other Gachas
  • MTG arena and other digital TCGs

They are using typical battlepass mechanics including locking gameplay affecting content behind a battlepass.

It’s a fun and successful indie game, but it’s not some paragon of monetization models.

I know. It’s obviously better for the consumer, but it makes it harder to base your business around it, as noted in that article.

So if I want to build a business, I have to look for libraries that are not copy left, and if I want businesses to use my software, I should not license my software as copy left.

You don’t get to make a “US Defaultism” comment after implying you had the right to vote in the U.S. election.

I disagree.

Signal is supposed to be a secure alternative to SMS, iMessage, WhatsApp, etc. Compatibility with less secure protocols is antithetical to that. Adding popular features of those other apps to be more competitive is how you forward the goal. (Ofc fixing bugs should come first)

Because that would require your desktop sending the message to your phone and having your phone actually send it. The device with the SIM card needs to be the one that actually sends the SMS.

A no longer supported but DRM-free offline game can likely still be played. You can find an old computer, or use emulation or virtual machines to run it.

But if the game uses DRM or online services it can become impossible to play once the company stops actively supporting it.
