Don't know who needs to hear this but you don't need to season stainless steel. You just need to pre-heat it correctly for it to gain non-stick properties.

You have to pre-heat to around 400 degrees Fahrenheit before you put anything in the pan - including oil. You know its good when you drop some water in and it immediately beads up and glides across the entire surface. If it boils and evaporates, the pan is still too cold. If it beads up and starts to glide but freaks out in a certain spot, you have a cold spot in your pan. You're trying to achieve the leidenfrost effect

Keep in mind that in a lot of dishes you actually want some of the food to stick to the pan and become [frond].(https://www.thespruceeats.com/all-about-fond-995681) Then you deglaze it later with some kind of wine or stock.

Stainless steel is perfect for this kind of cooking. I've been using it exclusively for years. Its versatility and low maintenance is why all the best kitchens in the world use it.

Oh yeah, Im pretty sure it was the first one and I think it was created by one of the cannon brothers. Idk if you're into fighting games like that but they started evo and are currently the lead developers on Riot's 2xko. Great dudes, super smart. Blew my mind when I found out.

I dont know much about Game dev, other than its really hard. I'm more into the networking & infrastructure side. Thats what drew me in to rollback in the first place. I've also been playing fighting games for longer than I care to admit lol

I might have heard of fightcade before but I didn't know what it was until you mentioned it. It sound amazing, Im definitely going to check it out. Good looks!

That's crazy. I'm clearly not an expert either but what you're saying makes a lot of sense though - at least, to my dumb ass lol. Its probably one of the reasons why I hear its so hard to implement. One day I'll dive deeper on it.

I never thought about how rollback would affect audio. Thats a really good point. Ideally, rollback would trigger a re-fire of whatever audio script it needed to locally, right? I wonder if KIs original netcode is sending some audio cues over the network and that's the work around.

Loved the upskill challenge. Really helped a lot in the beginning. Glad to see it on Lemmy.

Fair point but if the US insists on being run like a business, then I'm going to treat it like one.

If I go to a restaurant with shitty food and shitty service, I'm paying my tab, leaving, and never coming back.

I'm not going to waste my time going home and writing yelp reviews so that the manager can offer me a free appetizer the next time I come in.

Place sucks.

Might help.

Do you have a minute to talk about my lord and savior VIM? Wanna see my dot files?

Good looks! Thanks for the well thought out response. I don't think I've ever used my direct baking info for anything. It always seemed like a terrible idea.

Credit card seems to be the way to go. Although, there have been some fairly recent developments in NFC exploits and I'm not sure I trust tap payments any more than swipe or chip.

I saw this a while ago. Its a little technical but still accessible

If you're not into videos, they were featured in wired

Hey thanks! I've heard that they require you to submit a copy of your drivers license in order to sign up... idk if Im comfortable with that honestly but maybe I'll give it a shot. I appreciate the recommendation!

Digital Debit Cards? (lemmy.sdf.org)
submitted 4 months ago by [email protected] to c/privacy

I'm looking for some recommendations for digital debit/credit cards.

It feels like every other day there's 'the largest data breach in history' and at this point, I really don't trust any entity to safely and securely store PII.

That said, I like buying things on the internet, I'm not into crypto and would rather not include my real card information during checkout.

Any recs would be appreciated, thanks yall!

Some mans are unreadable. I've been curling cheat.sh/[command] and its been great for example commands. Highly recommend.

Title pretty much says it all. I've been using ubuntu as my daily driver for the last 5 years or so and honestly, I've had a wonderful experience with it.

That said, with the way things are going, I feel like its only a matter of time before Canonical pulls the rug out so I'd like to at least get my feet wet with something other than Ubuntu and Debian seems like the logical choice.

I mainly use my machines for gaming, self hosting, programming, and weird networking projects/automation testing.

I've heard gaming on debian isnt as 'out of the box' as it is with Ubuntu. So I'm hoping somone with more experience can share some tips on what I should be looking out for or point me to some good guides. Thanks yall.

EDIT: I fucking love this community. Thank you all for your replies. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.

Title pretty much says it all. Anyone else running into this issue?

Setup:

  • rtx 3050 , nvidia 525 drivers(game doesn't load with 535 last I checked)
  • Running the DX11 version of the game
  • i7 10th gen
  • proton experimental
  • high graphics settings
  • 2 person direct connection. Second player has practically the same setup but i5.
  • Ubuntu 22.04

For the most part the game runs at a beautiful 45 - 50 fps but 8/10 times after I save, it drops to 10-15 fps and stays there. I've been reloading it every time and it gpes back to 45-50 like nothing happened.
