Yup same here. Two profiles, one is my daily driver and open source, they other is for the few apps I need with Google services. This is the perfect compromise between what I want, and what I need.

They're going to fuck it up. I farmed the runes for the convenience of not having to think about runes again.

Now they'll introduce a system that would require me to repeat a grind in order to regain parity with where i am now.

I'm on an old android 7 (LineageOS), no issues this side.

Online ads, same here.

Was a small thing, I was vaguely aware of online ads but only at a high level.

Was browsing online for garden sheds then turned the laptop off. Came back in the evening and every single site was pushing ads for gardens sheds.

Did some research and 7 years later, de-googled phone, all social media long since closed, linux (mostly), VPN etc etc.

Not going to pretend I can do anything against state actors (CIA, GCHQ) , my threat actors are businesses, Meta, Amazon, Googlr etc.

Can't beat them all, but I can make my data exepensive to them at least.

The last two for fuck sake; after that list what the hell is, or how does Fuckerburg, define 'sensitive data'?

I had this yesterday but manages to figure out my problem last night.

It seems that when you first signup you're give what is effectively read-only (or guest) access to Lemmy via Lemmey.World - this is so you can see what instaces exist ans which you'd want to join.

Once you join an instance, in my case sopuli, you need to log into that instance on your app and run your searches etc.

Liftoff (app i use) allows me to search from L.W or sopuli, if i search from L.W i can't interact with anything, if i search from sepuli I'm able to post confusing answers!
