Thanks, I'm sure it will carry on as usual on [email protected] πŸ™‚

I think 2 mods are more than enough for c/football already. Let me know if you want the files for the logo/banner of the community.

Most of the active crowd of the community seems fairly opposed to going back to lemmy.world, they also voted to leave it in the first place.

By a very slim margin, most people voted to make [email protected] the next destination for this community.

@[email protected] and @[email protected] will step in as moderators of the community.

I'll set up a new LiveThreadBot for the community in the coming days.

As lemm.ee is shutting down at the end of the month, the community needs to find a new home instance.

The poll will be done via voting, you can vote for as many options as you want, but voting with multiple accounts will lead to all of your votes being discarded. Downvotes will be ignored.

Regardless of the choice, the live thread bot will be available.

The options to vote for are these:

  • [email protected] or alternatively [email protected]
    Pros:

    • Active and responsive admin
    • Instance dedicated to football
    • The instance is more or less already fully funded by paying users according to the owner.

    Cons:

    • Single point of failure in instance owner
    • Instance name is soccer for the first option
  • [email protected]
    Pros:

    • Similar instance to lemm.ee
    • Blaze and @[email protected] have volunteered as new moderators.

    Cons

    • More of the same, similar risk as lemm.ee
  • Create a new community at [email protected]
    Pros:

    • A more rapid developed reddit alternative that seems more in tune with integrating community requested features.
    • Both post and user flairs are currently supported.

    Cons:

    • Questionable long term scalability due to being built on top of python.
    • No/few app options

Let me know if i missed something

The bot isn't tied to the admin role, I started on it before I became a moderator for [email protected]

I never really wanted to be the main moderator in the first place, I'd be happy to let someone else take the responsibility.

I'll still put up a poll to see what the community at large wants though.

Yes, I'll give people some more time to discuss before making another post.

As some of you already have seen the lemm.ee admins have announced that the instance is shutting down at the end of the month.

The question for us is where should we migrate next.

Returning to [email protected] is always an option, alternatively we could move to either another established and stable lemmy instance or migrate to a piefed instance.

Piefed instances federate with lemmy instances as normal, and it allows for adding flairs to community posts and users, something not yet implemented on Lemmy. I haven't tried Piefed myself yet so I would need to dig more into it if it is a popular option.

Ultimately the choice for our next destination is up to you guys!
