So, in a word... And I say this as a European non-english speaker, so I may have got meaning and culture all wrong... It would be unpatriotic?

An argument which could have been brought forward in a way which would have been outside the very system you describe. Why resort to personal attacks? Did you feel offended?

As for the question at hand: Do what you can, continue the movement. Ask for better. A part of the problem is that those who can make (bigger) changes have nothing to loose by not changing. Why is that?

Most of us has the ability to change one thing in our life/work which would be better. Let's change that one thing. If everyone here does, it will be thousands of changes.

You've solved the old conundrum of how not to injure yourself by stepping on pointy dice. Those dice are to expensive to ever end up on the floor in the first place😁 I want no information what so ever on how to source those, as that would be detrimental to my financial status.

Not to mention the Streisand effect. They will get the exact opposite effect which they desire. But maybe it will be the lesson Europe needs...

I was thinking much the same, but I spotted the egg in the end as well. But I had no sound on, maybe it was something else? Like that "Yellow" stuff somebody called mustard.

No matter how you turn it, though, AI will be disruptive to life as we know it. The question is how to handle it. No media outlets will be spared until we figure out a way of validating information.

My favourite vision is how an AI robocaller is chatting with an AI answering machine. But honestly, why have a phone at all? All your loved ones calling may just as well be deep fakes trying to scam you for money.

It is clear we need to do something to prepare, but what? As you say, the cat is already out of the bag, so how do we proceed from here? AntiAI-software in the same way we have antivirus software? Even open source self hosting wount be enough, somehow you need to validate who to trust. Even if it would be a start...

And before that it was Moo2 and before that civ. First was reading a book till morning, though.

There's nothing as lovely as sunrise in July, and nothing worse than waking up for it!

It needs to be low, but positive and keept stable. If it's to high it will be self sustaining and increasing, if it's negative everything stalls. 2% seems to fit the bill.

There could be an argument that 4% would have been just as good, and had the rest of the world united on 4% it would*. However, it would not have changed anything in last year's combat of inflation. The target would have been defended just as fiercely causing just as much collateral. Only the numbers would have been slightly different.

*Ignoring for a bit those countries that has had to fight to keep inflation up.

I'm not entirely sure how to phrase this, but... Today there are choices...

Well, frankly, Northern Maine isn't very much north and not enough inland to get the extremes?

Most of Scandinavia has been below -15F for a good part of the new year and being relatively dense (for Scandinavia) in EV coverage I'd say Norway is the best example of EV very cold weather performance.

We've had this same "debate" here as well with ice-owners lamenting the perceived loss of range and EV-owners responding "I know, don't care. Always works, always warm and always topped up".
