one of my friends works in state housing assistance and they basically have no money over there so if you don't call soon after they get their account refilled (beginning of the quarter/month) you will be ignored because they don't have anything to give you. With trump cutting federal grants they are down to like 100 assistance grants in an area of millions of people. You will have to get lucky with timing if your local program is equally underfunded
he may not have been heard from because prisoners in CECOT are not allowed any direct contact with the outside. No lawyer or family visits or calls. I've talked with some Salvadoran activists about the CECOT and they mostly talk about the overcrowding, poor food and hygiene, and a complete lack of dignity and privacy. They didn't talk about violence in there though, except from the guards. Even if the gangs hate this guy they may not be able to get him, prisoners aren't even given clothes or rooms there. If he is dead it is because the guards allowed it.

from my admittedly limited conversations with irl Chinese people I think they have been ready to rumble for a few years now, I think America is severely underestimating their will and drive to avenge past humiliations. I keep thinking about this event that happened a couple years ago:

keep in mind though that the US (Trump and Biden) has blocked the seating of new judges at the WTO dispute settlement body since 2017, so the WTO can't actually hear any complaints anymore. They did this because countries in Latin America and Africa kept suing the US for unfair trade practices and winning, the WTO "international rules based" trading order has been dying for years at America's hands, now trump just nailed the coffin shut.

sorry, we didn't use them so i don't know. One of the original lib organizers ran up to us and gave my friend the phone with the chants, and my friend later told me it was open mid chatGPT conversation so my friend just handed it back and we did the old classics and improvised.
