I think you may have missed the jibe. NASA's missions to the Moon were just as hazardous considering how little we knew at the time and we pulled it off. The pentagon's budget is more than a trillion dollars and with the know-how we have these days I don't think Mars is unattainable at all if those resources were at our disposal. They just won't be...
