Buying gifts for other people's kids is so fraught. There are apparently 3 genders: Unicorn, Dinosaur and Construction Worker

It's not "the done thing" which is why it's a protest and say, writing a letter to the news papers isn't.

Irs likely all of the above: Teachers are under valued and over worked, poverty, bad housing and low pay for parents means less time their kids, 3 years of covid... it all adds up

Would I call it genocide? No.

Would I criticise a Māori person for being fucking livid that yet another government is doing something they know for sure will make Māori lives worse (and shorter)? Also no.

This episode was like RTDs whole run - generally good but with some almost unbearably cheesy moments

I feel the same, it doesn't help that Peters & Seymour are running rings around Luxon to get policies few of us actually want

Unfortunately we can't condense 75years of modern Israeli/Palestinian history into a 2 panel Simpsons meme to explain that, yes Krusty Burglar is evil but Homer had previously committed several atrocities of his own including the rape and murder of The Burglar's family and is now throwing grenades into the audience because they didn't do enough to stop the Burglar.

But this is justified by the Simpson's religious/cultural beliefs, themselves formed in response to violence and trauma committed by others, and funded by the religious fanaticism of the Flanders family who believe the Burgler has to die to usher in the end times.

Some people are gonna get annoyed by this but I reckon more controversy means more attention for NZ wildlife

It is almost always cheaper and more humane to give poor people money when they need it (both directly and via services.) Than to mop up the mess with police, prisons, Healthcare etc etc.

People seem to think poverty is a choice, and maybe it is, but it's a choice by governments and citizens not to help those who need it.
