Have you asked your doctor about Ozempic yet? Maybe you need to see a couple hundred more ads about it.

I don't know if the Safe Third Country agreement would apply to this, since the US wouldn't be the Third Country. Wouldn't that only apply if she went from somewhere else in the world to the US and then to Canada. She's from the US, not from somewhere else coming to Canada via the US. I think if it did she would've been deported immediately.

But yeah ending the Safe Third Country agreement needs to be a priority. They're sending people to a gulag down there FFS, it's definitely not a safe third country for asylum seekers by any stretch of the imagination.

It's always nice when toxic people pair up. They can just be toxic to each other and leave the rest of us out of it.

An operation involving naval and air forces by which a belligerent completely prevents movement by sea from or to a port or coast belonging to or occupied by an enemy belligerent. To be mandatory, that is, for third States to be obliged to respect it, the blockade must be effective. This means that it must be maintained by a force sufficient to prevent all access to the enemy coast.

So... according to the link you've provided Israel is actually required to board the ship or they can no longer prevent shipments of weapons coming from Iran?

Essentially aid entry is allowed so long as you agree to security arrangements that are both reasonable and lawful.

Has there been any indication these flotilla activists attempted to make such security arrangements with Israel?

Because there's National Guard in every state. The National Guard deployed in LA is just the California National Guard. And it's just a fraction of the CA National Guard being used. And most of them aren't doing much (some are guarding federal buildings, most don't even have any orders), it's actually the LAPD that's handling the protests.

You can and should have protests in other cities but do so peacefully. If you spend too much time on lemmy you'll constantly be told we're about to storm the Bastille any day now. This place is full of psychos that are constantly pushing for violence. They are idiots, you should ignore them.

Honestly if I were conspiratorial minded I might think some of the violence was some false flag kinda shit because burning cars while waving Mexican flags is exactly the imagery Trump did all of this to get.

Americans didn't vote for Hillary or Harris because apparently they wanted a whiny bitch to be president instead.

Why do you think he's everything they hate about immigrants? Are you not aware that he's white?

"Vulkan has arrived" is something they'd say on the Enterprize when Mister Spawk beamed aboard.

Gaza is under a declared blockade, Maritime Law (the oldest of international law) allows detaining any ship bound for a blockaded port. It's really cut and dry, they very publicly declared they were bound for a blockaded port. It's not like Israel boarded a ship that just happened to be in the area, these freedom flotilla yahoos very publicly declared they were bound for Gaza, which under Maritime Law permits Israel to board it.

International law is an agreement between nations and doesn't actually restrict nations from doing things that will hurt your feelings. You're going down the sovcit path when you pretend international law is whatever you want it to be.

We all know Hurricanes jumped the shark with the Katrina. Sure there's been a few decent seasons after that, but it's run it's course and it's really time to wind it down. It should draw some big ratings for the finale.

Variety reports there's a spin-off in the works.

Of course it's just a cartoon. In reality, Sideshow Bob wouldn't be arrested at the end.

Protest swiftly condemned by all levels of government; organizing group denies hospital targeted

Toronto police say they are increasing their presence along hospital row after a pro-Palestinian protest downtown on Monday night, including outside Mount Sinai Hospital.

Toronto Police Service spokesperson Stephanie Sayer told CBC News the increased police presence is to ensure that essential hospital services and emergency routes remain accessible.

"Interfering with the operations of a hospital is not acceptable," Sayer wrote in an email.

Police have not said if the hospital's operations were impacted by the protest. The hospital has not responded to CBC News's request for comment.

"The Toronto Police Service is investigating several incidents that occurred in front of Mount Sinai Hospital and along the demonstration route. As we have said before, officers use their discretion during large crowd demonstrations and even if arrests are not deemed safe to make at the time, investigations will continue and charges can be laid at a later date," Sayer said.

GENEVA, Jan 26 (Reuters) - The United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said on Friday it had opened an investigation into several employees suspected of involvement in the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel by Hamas and that it had severed ties with those staff members. "The Israeli authorities have provided UNRWA with information about the alleged involvement of several UNRWA employees in the horrific attacks on Israel on October 7," said Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General.

"To protect the agency's ability to deliver humanitarian assistance, I have taken the decision to immediately terminate the contracts of these staff members and launch an investigation in order to establish the truth without delay."

Lazzarini did not disclose the number of employees allegedly involved in the attacks, nor the nature of their alleged involvement. He said, however, that "any UNRWA employee who was involved in acts of terror" would be held accountable, including through criminal prosecution.

I'm going to the game tomorrow and I want my Jose Bautista bobblehead!

Does anyone know how long before the game you have to be at the Skydome before they run out of bobble heads?
