If your certain that AI will destroy civilization, then why not build that AI yourself.

I was a Windows user, before i switched to MacOS, since i liked the interface and the terminal capabilities. I then switched back to Windows before i made the move to various Linux distros. First mint, then fedora and right now ubuntu.

Don't get me wrong - it's not i didn't like the linux distros, i really liked them. I just like to try something new and see what i maybe missed from other operating systems.

As of why: Right now is mainly compatibility wise, since i use a Shadow cloud computer for occasional gaming and editing. And it didn't really run smoothly on mint or fedora - so ubuntu it is.

I like to switch to something else in the future and try out a new distro, but i can't say what it will be.

Great alternatives guys, thank you very much. I will go through them and see what i like.

I for myself right now use Librewolf with UBlock Origin for watching YouTube videos. Right now, this filters them out pretty good and i haven't seen an ad in quite some time.

I get that "just listen to something" is kind of relaxing. And yes, the SRF channels are ok, because there are no "real" ads playing all the time. But at the same time, we pay for it to have no ads.

I for myself despise the nonstopping ads on tv and private radio, it ruins the whole atmosphere. The current bigger media channels are going to the same direction, if not already there.

So yeah, kind of sad, but the 'circle of media' seems to continue.

not really a life hack, but most of the bigger stores buy their "fresh" stuff for the weekends, so if you shop on monday/tuesday, you may get a reduced price on vegetable, meat, etc.

For some cases i use an onprem bitwarden instance and for passwords i also want accessible through my smarphone i recently started using proton pass.

As of why: The onprem bitwarden instance has nice functionality for an free password manager. Since i pay for proton, i wanted to give proton pass a try.

If you go by car: Why are other modes not an option for you (e.g. public transport)? What would need to be done for you to switch?

I need to carry things around, be flexible - if needed. For me, it would need faster routes to get to work, plus a company car, i could take if needed.

In general: How long does your journey take?

With the car: about 12-15min, with public transport about 40min

Interesting, sound reasonable. Make sense, it the family is somehow involved in the war. Thanks for the explanation.
