12 years is indeed a long time, I hope some of these pasionate app devs move over to developing lemmy/kbin apps

Oh god, no please. The fediverse is not encrypted by nature..

I've heard NixOS is used on big scale deployments, and it is a well paid job it just won't be easy

I'm om the same boat as you, now wrapping my head around all the new concepts and stuff, and I like it so far. Coming from Arch it js definitely not an easy switch.

You should try Linux mint

This is all very new to all of us, time will only tell

Damn, I didn't even notice that, because twitter sucks

That is what we need to do, take what is ours, the content itself

The problem lies in the federative aspect of it.

Calling the communities "sublemmies" for example, would mean that people on kbin have to call it like that too. And afaik they are called in a general way for the fediverse, just like how mastodon changed toot to post.

Does this make the platforms less unique? Yes, absolutely, but I don't think there is a fix for it.

And I don't think this will be bad, it acts as a filter

I don't like reddit, its centralized nature makes it want to die for profit at some point.

The problem is, the refugees of reddit that are not tech savy enough will not migrate to the fediverse, if they even migrate at all... like you said.
