Visiting Northland is a game of roulette - will I be stabbed, suffer smoke inhalation, or get run over by a rampaging car? Maybe all 3 if visiting on the same day?

Thornbury Witch has given some very good advice. Also be aware, that if you don’t currently meet the deposit/income criteria for a mortgage from a regular bank, you will certainly not be getting a better deal elsewhere. Because of the high risk to the lender they will charge higher interest, fees etc. It will cost you a lot more. Best to save more deposit. There is nothing wrong with renting if means you can live comfortably and not be mortgaged to the eyeballs stressing over every dollar. I’ve never built new so I don’t know anything about finance + build schemes, but I would be too uncomfortable. Are there kickbacks to the builder? What’s the fine print? What recourse do you have if there’s problems with the build? I would feel much safer with a regular bank loan.

I have brunched, I have shopped, I have put on a load of washing, and I have bought Whitlams tickets. So far so good today.

I have no option on mesh vs upholstery, but have strong opinion that any desk chair needs to be fully adjustable in seat height, tilt, back support, arm rest height. Because everybody’s body is different and getting it set up right is what’s gonna make it comfortable for you.

So sorry. These people sound obnoxious.

You can buy smoke alarms that have a CO alarm built in. Bunnings. If you already have smoke alarms, you don’t need to install on roof if all you want it to do is monitor CO. Just put it in the room where you sleep or room with the heater.

Same. Would love to live amongst fresh air and views, but having to work means can’t do that. Maybe retirement!

Went to the big shops today, bought 2 pairs of jeans and 2 jumpers in the sales. Was a bit busy in there but the sales were good and jeans were needed and a good buy.

If your body clock feels better to nap during day and stay up later at night, just do it! You’re not bound to any one else’s schedules, just do what is best for you.

Very undeserving.

I’m not sure what this means because the cuticle is the thicker skin stuff between the bottom of the nail and finger? Do you just mean the skin gets nicked because you cut too much off the top? You could try washing/disinfecting the nail scissors or clippers. Bacteria might be living on them that keeps reinfecting any nicks each time you do your nails. Order of operation is wash hands, disinfect clippers, then trim nails. Hopefully that prevents any further instances!

This year I grew tomatoes, and found rats are stealing them. I am certain it’s rats because I have seen them. Have tried netting the tomato plants, but rats found ways in. Called an exterminator to bait in the roof and under house. Feel ambivalent about it, because if a predator bird takes an affected rat it may get ill. But I’m located deep in suburbia and have never seen an owl or eagle so I think it’s unlikely. Didn’t work though, still have rats. Have given up on the tomatoes, plants are destroyed. What are your strategies for ridding yourself of ratty pestilences?

Looking for inspiration. Which Australian food sites, bloggers, youtube, social media do you frequent? The places you go for ideas and recipes. I love Nagi (recipe tin eats), and occasionally browse Taste and SBS food. What are some others to look at?
