Funnily I'm not very fond opinions that entail treating me and my loved ones like dangerous subhumans

This is important activism. Thank you for doing it and sharing some insights.

afaik here in France we use paper ballots and physical collection. Which is quite nice after thinking about it a bit.

What is your opinion on automated solutions being used as an aid for human workers iff it doesn't replace them?

Same if they're used only as a secondary check not a primary counting method?

PS: I'll try to raise awareness around me.

Where I'm from (France) this is how you pay deposits for rentals.

We also have "bank cheques" for big expenses like houses.

Paying with cheques in regular shops is getting rarer, often requires providing two ID, and gets you weird looks. Debit cards have mostly replaced that usage.

We don't really have credit cards afaik.

I'm glad you're hanging in.

Being in a stable place is one of the first steps for effective healing c:

I'm in a similar position. The moments of peace are something new which needs getting used to :p

We gotta count our blessings.

That's still one step forward each cycle.

I'm glad you got there, that's no small feat <3

It's a very late reply but here I am.

Your comment is very interesting and thanks for typing it. After a bit of reflection I think you're right.

I learnt a bit recently about the Bush/Al Gore election in the US and how Florida votes were handled. Thanks Climate Town for throwing me down that rabbit hole.

It shook my confidence quite a bit especially about how automated systems often fail to handle edge cases and how it can create problems down the line.

Yeah this one is pretty niche nowadays.

I did it for my nephews because I found it funny to give them time capsules of what kind of music was broadcasted when they were born. And cassettes are a good medium for long time storage :p

Yeah I was thinking about renting physical copies not streaming.

I'd count digital ones as well.

That's how I didn't get the point since none of my leatherback encyclopedias is a complete set (yay backyard sales).

Like a getting movies in a public library can count as renting at Blockbusters imho?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago

0 points if you count public libraries as "blockbuster adjacent" and I'm only a year older than you.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago

I'd assume it's the floppy one but same lol

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 months ago

Same and I'm not even 30 ^^`

In this thread you can vent, celebrate, both, or anything else and I'll root for you n_n

There are no small victories and very few definitive defeats \o
