Not when you are down on aero performance. In that case, you will push the limit of the cooling to extract better aero performance.

At the very least, it should have been a disqualification from this race

Sometimes Max makes it so difficult to support him.

What the fuck happened at the end. Max's move made no fucking sense. Total red mist moment there.

Qualifying wise, this has been a crazy season

Again the latency might be not better for fiber. But the difference is small and the other factors are much better so the experience with fiber is a lot more stable .

I do not expect most people to know that non visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum is also similar to visible light. But on technology community on what is a niche enthusiast heavy platform (Lemmy), I expect people to know better to than to upvote something that is blatantly wrong.

Articles like these are scary. Now that mainstream news is speaking on these issues, it means there is a higher chance that the government/big tech corporations may step in to enforce stricter anti piracy measures which will also erode privacy and freedom

This has got a scary amount of up votes, especially considering that this is the 'technology' community.

Radiowaves are also 'light' and infact as many others have mentioned so eloquently, light travelling through air is faster than light travelling through glass. The reasons why fiber is better are - better stability because of lower packet loss and interference, better efficiency because of lower attenuation and losses due to diffusion, reflection, and other processes when traveling in a fiber optic cable, and more bandwidth because we can use more favourable frequencies in optic cables (@[email protected] explains it perfectly in another reply to the parent comment)

F2 showed that even that is not a guarantee. The track is not meant for 'racing'. The narrowness which makes it interesting during quali hinders it for the race

Knobs and buttons are nowadays similar in cost to just plonking in a screen and putting all the controls there. That is why manufacturers are doing it not just because it 'feels premium'.

Very few people ~~don't~~ buy sedans or hot hatches. We are a vocal minority here on Lemmy. Most people don't care much about driving dynamics, efficiency and other shit that enthusiasts care about. They want more interior space, better 'road presence' (whatever the fuck that means) and higher ground clearance.

An SUV shaped car is box shaped and so it has better headroom, better legroom and looks big with bigger top body and higher ground clearance. People flock to buy it.

It is a shame because SUVs don't come anywhere close to the driving dynamics and fun that sedans or hot hatches bring. To me, a sedan looks far more elegant than SUVs ever can while hot hatches look more sporty than SUVs ever can

So this lifespan figure is for running a battery to 0% state of health?

I recently updated to fedora 40 and enabled the experimental setting to get VRR running. But I am an idiot who has been playing at frames rates between 30-60 on screens without VRR for almost all of my life so I can't even know if VRR is actually working or not. Is there some rest I can run to see if VRR is functional¿? If not, which parts of the game should I concentrate to see the difference between VRR and no VRR¿?

Edit : I am on a laptop with the integrated screen being the one being used. I am currently using ublue-main

So I have this external 2.5" drive salvaged from an old laptop of mine. I was trying to use it to backup/store data but the transfer to the drive fails repeatedly at the ~290GB mark leading me to believe that maybe there is a bad sector on the drive. I tried to inspect the drive using smartmontools and smartctl but since it is an external drive, i was not allowed to do so. Is there anyway for me to inspect and fix this drive? I am on fedora ublue-main. The HDD is a 1TB seagate drive.

Edit : I am a linux noob so some hand holding will be appreciated. Also i am looking to use this drive only for low priority media files which i dont mind losing so please help even though it is not the greatest idea to use a failing drive

Edit 2 : It seems my post is not clear of what i am doing. I dont want to recover data from the drive. I want to try to use more of the drive for storing data

Words cannot express just how much I love the new setting to quickly toggle between light and dark mode. I am very very grateful. Thank you @[email protected], this is a wonderful app.

Since there is no F1TV community, I am posting here. I am trying to watch the pre season test on my phone running but am running into the error in the picture. My phone is running lineageOS 20. Is this a widevine certification issue¿? Is there anyway to resolve this¿?

Edit : Further phone details - Motorola G60. F1TV app used to work normally with the stock rom(at least it did last year)
