I obviously haven't had time to read her essays, but from the preliminary info i've found on leslie so far, she makes perfect sense.
I'll keep looking. Thanks for the recommendation.

You're the first person to humor me and help me out. Every other peron i've talked to on here for months has just told me to go look it up or it's not their job to educate me.
Like i know it's not your responsibility, but what is the point of social media if not to spread information?
I really do appreciate it. I'm busy as hell and don't have the time or energy to become another kind of extremist right now.the only reason i have time to be on here now is during down time on a continued education trip to keep my lisences valid. I'm already cutting into my sleep before i have to go back to regular worker hell tomorrow.
It was dumb for me to claim fdr was the role model, i was just referring to the changes he was making that were getting us a lot closer to having having a good quality of life for workers. If it was a ploy to pacify unions, then fuck him too i guess. I don't know his goals, just that americans could raise a family comfortably for 50 years afterward.
I want to raise a family comfortably.
I agree with all of that. I don't want a bourgeoise to exist at all.
This is basically what i was talking about when i was referring to the divisions in what should be unity. Most of my interactions on hexbear have been me trying to clarify i didn't intend to offend anyone with my admittedly outdated vocabulary, and now months later you show up and confirm we want the same thing politically.
I know i'm just yelling into the void as this point, but i really want to clarify in my removed comment, i wasn't claiming nepronouns are invalid, just that i don't think they're the hill to die on.
I have very different experiences with attempting to change someone's views, but i forget that my priveledged stature drastically changes my interactions. I'm really tall and broad shouldered, and long term untreated adhd forced me to plan my speach ahead, making me come across as eloquent. I'm also a medical professional and generally dressed up, so all of these factors have led to people perceiving me as a figure of authority. I'm not stating that to say i'm better in any way, just that it's much easier for me to convince someone i'm correct in an in person conversation.
Your point of using embarrasment to change minds is one of my favorites as well. I love making someone feel like an asshole for stating a fucked up opinion.
You've stated that this isn't a place for debate, and i feel like i've been told that before. I admit i don't really follow specific instances closely, so i'm not really clear on what hexbear is for, so i apologize if my explaining or clarifying of my positions is unwelcome.
As for coming off as a debatebro, i haven't intended on debating, but simply justifying my views or clarifying what i meant. I understand it's not my choice to define what a conversation comes across as to the others in the conversation, so again i defer. Along with not paying attention to instances, i also never look at usernames, so i'm never sure if i'm continuing a conversation or talking to a new drop-in. I just respond to the messages as they come, which being hours apart, find me in a different headspace.
I personally don't view a lifestyle as a choice to be changed, and i honestly didn't know that was a term to be avoided. If the queer community (which feels wierd to say, as many of the members in my personal life would prefer to be considered 'alternative' as queer was used as a slur in my area ) has a distaste for alternative lifestyle as a label, i will avoid using it going forward and thank you for the warning i may have offended someone.
As for the callouts on my usage of Strawman and Too Inexperienced, i considered my argument "practically a strawman" because of my references to made up pronouns and otherkin. When i was asked to list the specific divisionary arguments, listing those felt like conjuring the strawman a conservative imagines when they tell each other "schools have to include litterboxes now for the kids that identify as cats." It's bullshit to make queer folk out to look like a made up class of mental disorder. The too inexperienced group i referred to is just indicative that i have no idea who i'm replying to, and for all i know the people talking to me could be 12 or never interacting with people outside of the internet.
The compromising is for politicians bit is not something i disagree with, but i don't view biting my tongue long enough to try to educate someone as compromise. Trying to change someones mind to help the world is stressful, but someone has to try or we'll just be yelling at each other forever.
And a final defense that wasn't brought up: I'm trying out a new keyboard, so forgive my grammatical errors.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out, and i apologize if i set anyone off with my unkowingly insensitive terms.
No, of course not, but that requires going much further into it. Ideally i would like regulations preventing companies from owning other companies, having more than a set number of workers, owning land, and force any company serving more than half of americans to be consider a utility and converted to a socialized platform.
Now my understanding may not match your own, but what i meant was companies owned by the workers and run for the workers. No price gouging or planned obsolescence. No underpaying and overworking. No overpayed middlemen and billionaire execs. Sharing the wealth and providing quality goods.
I'm tall white and traditionally masculine. They tend to think i'm one of them. I can't tell you the number of times i've had patients just casually drop some really racist shit on me like we we're going to become friends over it. I'll calmly make them feel like an idiot, and watch them scramble to get back on my side by contadicting everything they said now that they suddenly 'see the light'.
I've cut ties with companies because their reps thought they could drop n bombs in conversations. Those are the people i prefer not to call out though, i'll just quietly quit doing business with that company, and hope they keep outing themselves and failing.
These are well travelled, educated representatives whose job is literally to relate to clients. I really don't understand how you can witness so many different types of people and still think like that. Not only think like that, but be comfortable enough saying out loud to a person they hardly know.
