I really should be doing some cleaning but Miss Meow has me pinned down on the couch and is purring madly.

I did get a small shelf for my toaster oven assembled and have put up the small fence to keep Mr Woof and Miss Meow away from the side gate. I now have a small utility courtyard for the bins etc., and hopefully being open metal bars instead of solid it won't trigger Mr Woof to try digging under it to get out to come and find me when I'm away. He seems to stress out if I'm gone more than about 20 minutes.

I choose to believe that is a ring cake. My slice was delicious, not donuty at all.

I bought a thick soft mattress topper (10cm thick bamboo) and also got some new linen sheets. It has definitely made the bed extra cozy. I also have a heated throw rug on the couch though, so there are lots of competing cozy spots around.

Whilst I do enjoy a good drive in the countryside, in the dark trying to get home from work is not really the time. I think the GPS was trying to send me the long way around to avoid some traffic, but driving back country roads you don't know in the dark is not fun.

In good news though I had many packages when I got home, including the lost Bunnings parcel that has been spending the last week touring the state. Miss Meow has some new steps, which arrived with a bit of damage but seem to be holding together ok, and she also has a new mat to go in front of the litter trays to help contain her wild litter flinging ways.

I also have a couple of rugs which look fairly lightweight but should be decent enough for occasional use in the garage, a stand to put the toaster oven on, a rolling stand for my computer cpu, and new rollerblade style castors for my office chair. I just need to figure out how to get the old ones off.

And also a set of coasters I threw in as a last minute impulse buy and actually look pretty decent - each one has a similar but different pattern.

I'm tempted to start another account just so I can upvote this a second time.

I had to read the comment a few times before I could understand it, because a father hearing his daughter screaming in the night and not running in straight away to find out what is wrong and providing comfort just didn't make sense to me. Actually berating her for it is just appalling behaviour.

@[email protected] the only question to ask here is WTF is wrong with your father, you have absolutely no reason to feel guilty.

Miss Meow agrees that sleeping in is the best way to deal with today

Happy birthday πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³

Maybe when people are finding money a bit tight they do try to get "deals" like buying EOFY discounts and trying to claim things on tax? Hopefully the contrast of busy now and relaxed later will make weekend celebrations even better?

Thankyou! That doesn't show on my app so I had no idea. Maybe I should just add my own cake to all my posts today?

My attempts to be lazy and have a parcel from Bunnings delivered have not gone well. They split it into two parcels, one of which was returned to sender for having a wrong address, the other is in limbo having been sent to a LPO for collection and then sent on again from there as being incorrectly sorted. I really should have just done click and collect.

Edit: the new poop scoop arrived ok, so at least one of my deliveries has worked out.

Having security cameras is kinda fun - I've just looked at last night and discovered Miss Meow has also worked out the dog door. It appears she just stayed under cover and looked out for a bit before teleporting back inside, but that last bit could just be continuity gap from the motion sensors not picking up when she went inside.

The change of year is always a good time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. I invite everyone to post here with their New Year reflections and resolutions. Next Year I will make another post and link back to this one so we can read our past thoughts and ideas.

You are free to use any format you like, but I would suggest:
What are the major milestones and changes that occured this year (and further back if you like)?
What good things are happening in your life that you would like to keep going?
What would you like to change or add into your life in the future?
What challenges do you expect to arise over the next year, and how do you plan on dealing with them?

I've converted my front yard to be mostly edible plants, I think they are often underrated in how ornamental they can be.

It looks like Melbourne won't get the worst of this, but we could have some heavy storms over Christmas.

Remember if you are driving to slow down and pull over if necessary, and don't drive through floodwater. Driving through floodwater can be extremely dangerous, and if you try to drive under a bridge and get stuck we will also all point and laugh at you (this applies whether it is due to flooding or excessive height).

How does your garden grow?
