The streaming industry had a couple of benefits, being convenience for an acceptable price. Corporate greed pushed these streaming services to lower convenience and increase the price and they expected people to just eat it. I don't mind paying for good products that I regularly use, but the price has to be acceptable. This doesn't however justify piracy, but it is one possible way forward.

As an emergency supply, yes. However, it is unclear how much of it is left. People/news quote hour estimations, but it is anyone's guess really. People in panic consume more oxygen. Additionally, it is still unclear what happened. For example, if they had a leak, they will probably have different problems than oxygen.

Let's just hope that they manage to find them, at least in those 96 hours.

It doesn't translate fully to English, but I always like this one: "Have you considered giving your studies another chance?"

Keep it, store it somewhere. It is a good memory to what it ones was.

I unfortunately cannot attest to the reliability of BMWs. I have been driving BMWs for the last 6 years now, but these were all company cars, which I swapped every 2 years. So never done more than 130.000 km on any of these cars. What I can attest to is that in these 6 years, I never had any, seriously any, problem with these cars. The only thing I noticed was the maintenance cost, which I luckily didn't have to pay. For example, the brakes on these cars are awesome, but you must replace them often. Worst case I had was with a Mini, in the two years I drove it (~130.000 km total) I had to replace the front brakes 3x and rear 2x. When I asked the mechanic if this was normal, he said yes.

And that is exactly where it is at, which makes me happy for the future. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay provide such much more connectivity than the native UX/UI in cars. I personally never used the built in navigation software of cars, since every time I try or need to use them, they are shit. I'd much rather have a car that doesn't have built in navigation or other "apps", but has a flawless CarPlay experience.

The way Meta gathers and processes not only user information, but also non-user information, from all corners of the internet is astonishing. Meta mainly uses this information for targeted ads, which in its core isn't all that harmful. However, there appear to be cases in which social media is crawled to "tailor" a product, which is not desirable for consumers. E.g. when you watch a lot of car/motorcycle stunt content, it might ultimately mean that your next car insurance payment will be higher, because the insurer thinks that you might start doing that dumb stuff too. That is probably the least scary use case.

What really is the most dangerous is what you saw over the last couple of years, Social media platforms being used to manipulate people and push a specific (geo)political agenda. We also have echo chambers of communities that can potentially be harmful to society. All of this, combined with the data that Meta gathers is dangerous beyond comprehension.

Couple that to your statement "I don't have to worry about someone using a 2 second clip of audio to scam my grandma into thinking I'm trapped in a foreign country and sending over thousands of dollars using Facebook." Even without AI, this has happened over the past years using social media platforms. Scammers and thieves know when you are not at home, because you are posting those holiday pictures. When a data leak occurs, which happens quite often, scammers and thieves get access to your historical information and patterns, which can also be used to scam your grandma, or worse. It is quite easy to social hack someone when you know pretty much everything that happened in that persons life. "Hey grandma, sending this message from a strange phone number from Bali, since someone stole my phone on the beach, can you send over some money to buy a new one?".

Not saying we shouldn't use social media anymore, I am also posting this on one. But people should be mindful of the information that is out there.

Everyone their cup of tea. I personally dislike Toyotas for their UX/UI and use of gigantic large fonts, I get why old people love them though

I literally never drove a German-made car made in the last 8 years and thought "wow, what a thoughtful infotainment and user experience".

Did you, or did you not drive German made cars in the past 8 years? Because in my experience, currently driving a BMW 320e (2021), I can attest that it is by far the best system I have used in any car. In my experience, way better than the brands you mention above. Perhaps I am one of those people that ensures these brands survive, because they make great automobiles that fit my needs.

Since when is Meta considering something as being too dangerous? It is not like Facebook and Instagram are any less dangerous...

Makes sense, it would be a major risk to accidentally shoot a UN representative, while you are shooting on people in need of aid. /s
