Zigged when he should have zagged, apparently. Not the most encouraging analysis…he needs to be able to survive grappling exchanges, he can’t just hope to evade them for entire fights with distance management.

As a guy who knows little about striking, his technique looked really bad to me? Like he was wincing away as he punched. Yet it seemed weirdly effective.

You couldn’t really call this fight “close”, but in retrospect it’s really surprising that Ortega came close to victory twice and went the distance.
