Zigged when he should have zagged, apparently. Not the most encouraging analysis…he needs to be able to survive grappling exchanges, he can’t just hope to evade them for entire fights with distance management.

As a guy who knows little about striking, his technique looked really bad to me? Like he was wincing away as he punched. Yet it seemed weirdly effective.
I’m kind of surprised this actually came together. And disappointed I guess, since it should be Pavlovich at this point.
You couldn’t really call this fight “close”, but in retrospect it’s really surprising that Ortega came close to victory twice and went the distance.

He was a Qanon guy, might still be for all I know. I don’t go looking for stupid stuff fighters say because there’s an awful lot of it, but it was well known enough to be a meme about him.
Cannonier has such an aptitude for violence, he’s turned me into a fan in spite of his crystals and conspiracy theories.
