One of the many problems with Elon is that he actively supports his portrayal as the lone technical genius who does most of the work instead of a guy who is very good at motivating (or sometimes threatening) talented people into working 80 hour weeks and also has a bit more technical understanding than the average CEO
This is the crux of it. Fanboys treat him like he does it all. Is he an educated person who has a far deeper knowledge of his company’s works than most CEOs? Unarguably, yes. He’s good at getting investors and he’s good at extracting work from employees. That’s what he does. He’s not here to save the world, he doesn’t build cars or spacecraft. He’s plainly here to be successful and make money, and if he could do it making something like an iPhone competitor or whatever it would be no different to him.
Haha…yeah. That’s how it works. 🙄
Soak in salt water? Never done that for any jam or canned fruit I made, nor have I seen that suggested in a recipe.
Hm. We have 2 kinds of HMD in our household. “Fit” is not problematic, but it’s profitable marketing.
I wonder if predators would learn to detect the smell of dewormer and just avoid that and not the prey.
Global humidity is rising. Kinda sucks looking for data on it because it just shows an average and because it’s an average it only moves a few points. I’d be really interested in seeing what’s happening in populated areas. It’s completely anecdotal, but I really feel that humidity has shot up a lot when I’m outdoors. Unless you’re in a arid area, it’s feels so much steamier and harder to cool off.
I know very little about the machinery that makes the fediverse work, so forgive me if this seems ignorant: What’s to prevent a malevolent entity from writing their own version of the fediverse that is compatible with the current version and uses the “EEE” philosophy to essentially take over, grow, and kill (or overwhelm) the ‘verse we all use now?
It’s a lot cheaper to consume the competition before it’s a threat.
Right? The only people that seem to hate on the EU are the ones being prevented from profiting off of it the way they abuse Americans.
Won’t be much of a second chance. We are globally tied together for manufacturing, raw materials, farming, food, and the specialized knowledge to put all these things together. lf CC ends up in a worst-case scenario it will cause the global supply chains to collapse and result in truly catastrophic starvation and collapse of civilization as we know it. It might be possible for places like china to hold out as they’ve got a lot of resources and manufacturing all under one roof, but other places that are reliant on that manufacturing capability being shipped to them are fucked. I wish I could find it, but there was a legit paper done on just such a situation that described how the breakup of the flow of materials around the world would result in disaster.
More fees.
