Fuck, that was so tragic. Would it have changed his life if he had lived a couple more months? Would he have cleaned up and gotten his shit together? We'll never know. The news really cast a pall over that year, especially for those who already knew of Sublime. It just felt so unfair, man. We had finally come to accept Kurt's death, were still mourning Shannon's passing, and now Brad, who never got to reap the fruits of his labor, was gone. He left us a gift, and I mean one hell of a gift because it's a freaking beautiful album, but it's hard to not wonder "what if?"

Like Kurt and Shannon, he was just so wonderfully talented and beloved, the world suddenly felt very cold and slightly less bright in his absence. Just so unfair. Pour one out for Brad, he is still sorely missed.

Oh, I know of that band! I've heard a few of their tracks on streaming radio...Poptron, I think. Yeah, they're great, I didn't know they dissolved like that. It's a shame, they were real good.

I can’t imagine how it would feel knowing that your embarrassing moments and otherwise private matters were shared with millions of people online. Mortifying wouldn’t even begin to begin to cover it.

I would feel violated, that's for sure. Exploiting your kids like that is gross and fucked up. Just because children lack agency doesn't mean they don't or shouldn't have rights. Society needs to rid itself of the idea that authority figures "own" those who are subordinate or under their care or guardianship. It's a disgusting, antiquated mentality that has no place in modern society. Humanity needs to grow the fuck up.

I harbor no resent towards Gen X, but their refusal to fight the tide certainly didn't help.

Not all of us were apathetic; there were many who tried to fight for what was considered really progressive ideas at the time, like fighting for equal rights and against climate change, but there weren't enough of us. We're a smaller generation anyway, didn't have a good way to make our voices heard since the internet was still in its infancy, and were turned into a punchline by the media. And everybody believed it. Slacker, freeloader, tree-hugger, JFC it's no wonder why nobody took us seriously. I mean, frick, in the 90s everyone got their news from four network channels and a few cable channels on tv, so America believed the hype and largely wrote us off.

We tried, man. We did the absolute best we could with a shitty situation, and it stings to think about how we weren't able to accomplish more in our youth. Please don't write us off as a useless apathetic generation, we've already been through that before. Besides, you're probably thinking of our parents, the Boomer generation (born 1945-1965). They aren't entirely to blame for the country's problems, but they held (still do in many ways) most of the power and chose to throw their support behind rich wealthy conservative assholes, and we're still feeling the affects of their decisions. Again, they don't deserve all the blame, but the sheer amount of Boomer shit contributions to society dwarfs what the worst of Gen X ever did.

Ah, I missed these. Thanks for reposting, it was a fun read. Odd that Swatch Group still doesn't sell the MoonSwatch online, given it's supposed to be the affordable version ($260 USD) of the Speedy. Maybe they like the hype, but you'd think they prefer money.

Ok, I'm out of the loop here, that's the second time I've seen someone mentioned "unfinished" CGI. Is it actually unfinished, or does it just look that bad?

It's exactly that. Some people literally get off - as in they get sexually excited and then jerk off - by upsetting other people. They don't do it because it's something that turns them off; they want a quick easy fix, and saying offensive shit takes little effort. All it requires is the ability to type with one hand.

It takes a real asshole to get kicked out of a far-right extremist asshole congressional caucus founded by mega-assholes Ron DeSantis and Jim Jordan. These assholes have never expelled any of their fascist asshole membership until now, so this asshole now has the distinction of being the most insufferable of insufferable assholes. That's a really big asshole.

Asshole!

Ah, right on time, the toxic defeatist boomer arrives.

This is awesome. I really dig the ghosted view you did for the ID community; there's something about that pencil/draft look that just looks so cool.

Btw, as a feature request, I think it might be cool to separate the banner on a magazine's page from the mini-icon that shows up in listings. Also, inline images should be a thing, I think.

This is a good idea, usually icons and banners have different aspect ratios. Surprisingly, this hasn't been addressed in the issues section of the code repo at Codeberg, so you may request this feature should you feel so inclined. Ernest said the focus is on instance stability and core functionality at the moment, but I'm sure something like this will eventually get taken care of. There are a few more devs involved these days, fortunately all of Kbin's development and operation duties are no longer dependent on one person.

But yea, siiick art!

Ah ok, I should've figured there'd be custom OS's involved, that's awesome. Thx, I'll check out RetroGameCorps. And thanks for the starter guide link, looks super helpful.

I'm so out of the loop, this is blowing my mind. I'm looking at the site @FriendOfFalcons linked (https://anbernic.com/products/rg35xx), wow. Specs look pretty good, this emulator should easily run any PS1, GBA, Neo Geo game. Hahah what, Neo Geo? There's a blast from the past.

I can't find any info on what Linux distro it ships with, does this thing work out of the box or do you have to install the OS? I presume you supply the ROMs? Holy crap, and they have beefier handhelds that support later-gen platforms. This is awesome.
