Cameras in the house is still creepy. Even baby monitors have been getting hacked for many years already.

Here's a good example why not to do that: friend was in the process of divorce from a douche spouse, who was technically skilled and had installed security cameras inside and outside the house. They all left them in place knowingly, and the douche spouse who had to move out kept watching the family inside the house and bringing up things that happened in private. I was like "WTF unplug that shit"

No thanks, I'm not a socialist or a communist. I support the US Constitution and democracy, both of which are in far more need of support these days than fantasy revolutions like yours.

Go right ahead then, we will watch

Tired same old Internet argument garbage, where every argument is against the worst possible absolute of the Other.

The short answer is "numerous regulations and laws exist" and the long answer is that Capitalism pays the paychecks of everyone who controls basically everything, so it's not going away, and the best you can do is enact sensible regulations on it. Because you and everyone else don't have the ability to change any of that really.

Yep the difference for our setup was going from 12-18 hour full charge times (Level 1) to about 6 hours on Level 2. L1 charger could only put out 12 amps at 120v, and while the L2 charger can do up to 50A of 240v power, our vehicle can only use about a third of that capacity at max draw.

So as the video's topic covers, we didn't need a 50A circuit for Level 2 charging on our limited vehicle. But I put in a full 50A circuit anyway so now I can eventually upgrade our other car to electric or PHEV and be ready for whatever those need.

I have to wear bug spray and/or long sleeves going out into the woods, the bugs get all over me and are everywhere all the time. There's lots of wildlife like squirrels, raccoons, deer, coyotes, lizards, frogs, salamanders, woodchucks, beavers, and more all over the place. Seems pretty good here except for the more intense weather seasons we've been getting the last 10 years or so.

If it gets too much warmer or disruptive climate here I may decide to migrate north a couple hundred miles or something. My family and descendants should be able to carry on likewise.

First of all, I don't ask for permission, I do what I want. Freedom can be enforced by the will of the individual.

Secondly, you may be failing to grasp the scope of the American landscape and how difficult it would be to monitor forests, lakes, and rivers.

IMO a lot of the doomer garbage comes from people who are disconnected from nature completely. I think they live in bubbles of digital doomscrolling and never literally touch grass. Because if you get outside of oppressive concrete urban environments and visit the forest you will see nature persisting along just as it always has. And as we are part of nature, we can also persist along with it.

The technology of modern living is also reason for hope. With some effort individuals can live independently without the need for municipal utilities of any kind, and enjoy the freedom that only self-sufficiency can provide. But people seem to be very complacent these days and unwilling try anything that seems hard. Meanwhile we have all the information of the world at our fingertips for easy access to learn how to do anything. We can each accomplish almost anything - with the info on the Internet I have been able to learn and do anything I wanted to do.

Awesome song by supergroup 3rd Secret, from their first album.

3rd Secret includes members of Nirvana and Soundgarden. Here's their Bandcamp page with all the details:

https://3rdsecret.bandcamp.com/album/3rd-secret

3rd Secret's first album is diverse ranging from folk to neo-grunge. The album coalesced into a single project from a mess of different projects that Krist Novoselic was involved in. They brought it together to make a great band of rare talent.

Their 2nd album "2nd 3rd Secret" is more focused and has more consistent feel throughout. You can tell that they operated more as a band than a collection of projects on the 2nd one.
