Good to know - thanks for the feedback!

So the Quest 2 works to this day with those DNS blocks? You use SteamLink now i assume? Or you ever got ALVR working?

When looking up the Valve Index i don't see that many issues with SteamVR on Linux?

Interesting, you don't have any limitations i assume?

i want to use it solely for streaming steam games to it. I wouldn't even want to touch anything else. I don't know if i can dodge the store completely by using ALVR instead of Steam Link.

I have my garuda installation just where and how i want it to be. NixOS just always seemed very interesting, but i don't want to run it on my daily machine.

After working in a really big company for a while and seeing how incredibly degrading the hiring process is nowadays i simply woulnd't want to apply for a job for those companies.

I just signed the contract for a much smaller company and the process was:

  1. Apply online.... via mail and just attaching some PDFs :D
  2. "We are interested in you, we would love to do an interview. Can you come over or do you want to do this Online?"
  3. Meeting them in person, having a nice interview and chat afterwards.
  4. Agreeing to do this and sign the contract.

Thats it. No Booking time slots to getting interviewed bullshit. This is just ridicilous.

whisper is an STT application that stems from openAI afaik, but it's open source at this point.

i wrote a little guide on how to install it on a server with an NVidia GPU and hw acceleration and integrate it into your homeassistant after. https://a.lemmy.dbzer0.com/lemmy.dbzer0.com/comment/5330316

it's super fast with a GPU available and i use those little M5 ATOM Echo microphones for this.

Yup, 8GB card

Its my old one from the gaming PC after switching to AMD.

It now serves as my little AI hub and whisper server for home assistant
