I've been using Mixplorer for years because is simply the best file manager on android, but I try just using open source.

But the reasons I'm finally moving is that it doesn't update regularly and a couple days ago I find it making connections to google and telegram.

No, Happychick is malware, stay away from it. All the emulators they use are stolen from the .emu apps, from MAME and if you want to play Nintendo DS it literally just installs a moded version of drastic.

It ask for a lot of permissions, including location and contacts.

You can also used it to download untrusted Roms and even android apps.

On top of that isn't even open source.

Your best option is Retroarch, it can emulate way more than just gameboy. But if you are looking for something lightweight and easier to use, try lemuroid https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.swordfish.lemuroid/

Have you try retroachievements.org ? It really makes playing old games a new experience by adding a more challenging and competitive aspect.

On Android you can use seal. By default download the thumbnail of the video as cover, the channel name as artist and the video name as the song name. You can also download entire playlists.
