Different channels. Different companies. Fox News does not own 20th Century Fox broadcast channel.

I like RHCP but that "episode" was pointless. It was just an animated music video. And the sound was bad, like they recorded it while moving around the space to make it "sound 3D" or something.

I've fallen asleep during every episode. This does not happen with other shows, except for one or two really slow episodes of Severance. I have no idea what the problem is.

But you specifically call out European-Americans, who are much more likely to have left America because they didn't like trump. I don't think this is very well thought out. Almost sounds like you're calling American immigrants violent criminals, in which case you might want to submit some evidence or examples or something.

Probably a long shot, but have you by any chance had exposure to dioxin (agent orange) when you were young? Like growing up on military bases or someplace like Laos or Vietnam?

I know a few people who have those symptoms, and they had significant dioxin exposure as teenagers, though the symptoms didn't start coming on until they were in their mid-to-late 20s. Being exposed as an adult would not result in disability, however. It has to be during development.

Pretty sure none of them are Catholic, which makes it even weirder that they care about the Pope at all.

Ohhh. As someone who also went through an editing program recently, yeah, I think AI has taken a lot of those jobs. Are you a member of any editing guilds like the EFA (if in the US)? They seem to have more one-off jobs for freelancers, but there was a regional guild I was part of that posted more corporate editing jobs, which maybe sounds more like what you're looking for. But right after AI got big it quickly became apparent that even the experienced freelancers were having a hard time getting steady work. I wish you luck. At least you have a good chunk of experience. I gave up because I didn't have any.

There just isn't that kind of leftist discourse in America. If there are communists here, I've never met one in real life, and I live in a very progressive region. Lemmy has been my first real exposure to anything further left of democratic socialism. I'm not sure why non-Americans are so continually surprised that we use "liberal" framework to discuss politics (that word means something completely different to us than it does to you). It would be great if the far right didn't keep moving us to the right, but that's the situation we live in. As capitalism fails, more people are waking up to the class struggle, but you can't just change a whole country's political paradigm overnight.

Did my elderly mother suddenly find her way onto the fediverse? She used to say shit like this when I was a toddler.

I really hate this. Do we really need to spend 20 minutes on every damn post to figure out if it's real now? Why muddy the water with fake shit when the real thing is bad enough?

NEOShinjuku Atsushi had amazing vegan burgers! And the cyberpunk theme was cool. Hope that place is on your list.

Japanese culture is all about respect and being polite. They are much more likely to ignore you than insult you. In fact, it seems to be somewhat impolite to strike up a conversation with strangers in most situations. I think the nightlife in Japan may be different, as people open up more when they're letting loose.

However, if you try to move there, know that they never fully accept foreigners into Japanese culture. You will always be a bit of an outsider.

One more thing to note is that people online will always be meaner than people in real life. Places like reddit and Lemmy are not accurate representations of real life communities.
