The collection started off innocently enough when I found the Casio W-201 on the ground outside a bar back in the late 1990's. The strap was broken and sticky. I asked around to see if it belonged to anyone to no avail. So I stowed it away after removing the broken strap. The W-201 stayed quietly in my watch box for over 25 years.

Amazon had a Xmas sale back in 2021 and I picked up the Casio W800H-1AV for $13 as a stocking stuffer for me and my kids.

Recently my kids went on school trips to DC and were prohibited from taking any internet-connected devices. So we dug up our old point-and-shoot cameras and sent them with their digital timepieces for alarms and whatnot.

Round about the time of the most recent class trip, I dug out the old Casio W-201 and was shocked to see that the battery was still working. Even more shocking: the time was still right! That inspired me to take to the Casio subreddit where I found plenty of strap watch band replacement suggestions and tips. I found a replacement strap on AliExpress for $1. It's as good as new now!

The Casio AE1200WH (aka "The Casio Royale") I purchased with a gift card on sale a couple weeks ago after perhaps too much time perusing of the addictive Casio subreddit. The watch is a treasure for $20 though. It's packed with features. It looks great on the wrist. And there's quite an appetite for mods out there for this model as well. I really love it.

The subreddit is also where I found out about the Casio W800H mod that adds the countdown timer and 5 alarms. My son and I did that mod together. Very fun stuff!

I got the G-Shock DW-5600UE over the weekend. I never had a G-Shock and decided to use up the rest of my gift card on one.

The subreddit is a wonderful place to escape the dreadful news of the day. I decided to try and muster up a similar community here on the Fediverse with Lemmy. Hope there are plenty of other Casio enthusiasts out there.

5:30AM - 10AM slot was certainly too long a show once their producer Mike "Fernando" Fernandez retired.

Big Musers Announcement: starting today, our new show hours are 6am to 9am. We've been waking up really early and doing the longest show on the Ticket for 30 years. For the three of us to extend our shelf life, we needed to "cut things back a little bit."

In case you missed the announcement. New weekday schedule. Musers Pre-Game 5:35-6AM. Musers 6-9am. I know it seems odd to change in our 30th year, but we want to keep doing this for as long as we can, and this helps us do that. Much love.

Stumbled upon a forum post on the Tom Petty subreddit https://www.reddit.com/r/tompetty/comments/utcv83/every_buried_treasure_ever/ and followed the Mega link to download all the Buried Treasure episodes. It took me a few days of waiting on the free download. But I finally got there and downloaded all of the shows. They're perfectly recorded!

Not sure if the URL that Mega gave me once I had waited the allotted time will work for y'all. I figured that well, I did the hardest part, you know, "the waiting". And I don't see why y'all should have to as well. So if the link works for you, Do something nice for your neighbor and fellow man. Let that Altima into your lane. Pay it forward at your coffee shop. Or just smile in the elevator without making it weird.

Here's the link: https://mega.nz/file/51FUCA7C#vsqYkAwyhj2LOe_SB_8j_7mo5y3dKqpWKbdvEqLg_IE

If it doesn't work, be patient and keep hitting the free "Wait" button. Even if you have to restart your browser session, it'll keep your place in the queue. So worth it.

How will you be watching the Dallas Mavericks this season? 🏀 📺

We dusted off our old TiVo unit that's still connected to our attic antenna to be able to watch the Mavs' games this season. Having YouTube TV for almost 7 years now we had gotten used to not watching Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Stars regular season games. This new OTA ("Over-the-Air") broadcasting deal closely matches the deal that the Phoenix Suns and Mercury came to with a Phoenix-area affiliate.

That was all well and good until we realized that the new "KFAA" on Channel 29 would not likely be available on YouTube TV. So I switched the source to "TiVo" and mercifully it is still working! (I suppose if it hadn't worked, we would've looked into getting a Tablo DVR or somesuch to replace it and have another way to record live OTA TV.)

I very much enjoy this show. Season 4 was too short. It seemed to get going only for the season finale. I'm going to read "London Rules" to get a leg up on the next season.

McClearin spent time in college football-obsessed Alabama which he says is comparable to the Cowboys media frenzy in Dallas.

The Dumb Zone hosts, formerly at The Hang Zone, are getting into a groove they couldn't find on The Ticket.

"It seems that if The Dumb Zone is to eventually find its groove, it will be because of [Blake] Jones. Jones was McDowell and Kemp’s producer at The Ticket. He, too, left the station not long after his radio buddies did and joined the podcast crew just after the Cumulus lawsuit was settled. His on-air personality, mixed with his technical skill and ability to book a range of guests, was something the earliest Dumb Zone episodes lacked."

“It was merely to have a place for myself that was easily accessible to re-listen to funny segments from the station,” Ron said via email. “I’m in the web development/marketing industry, so throwing something together was simple. I thought that if I could just post funny segments, it would be easier to show friends and family whenever I talked about them. I was always referencing the Ticket. I still do to this day. The Ticket has warped my version of the English language, but in a hilarious way.”

Bob Sturm on taking pride in the station. "It’s a very rare thing in our business to be super proud of the jersey you wear because most people can't stop complaining about our industry and their company. We’re not at a perfect company, and it's definitely not a perfect industry, but there’s a sense of pride, and there always has been, on being able to wear this shirt. That’s an important thing that I think is worth saying is that to this day, I feel like even some who have made decisions to step out of the boat, they realize that they’re giving up something pretty special. I think that’s what motivates a lot of us to keep it going for as long as we can."
