Bro your sign value? Baudrillard can be incoherent rambling to a degree but his early stuff at least is pretty on point at analyzing some whacky phenomena that arose well after Marx

Yeah getting all the requisite gear for backpacking can be a pretty hefty up front cost. Once you have it though you’re wracked with guilt for spending so much that you end up using it a lot at least! And the marginal cost for further trips is very low, basically just food and transportation.

If you don’t already have one a thermal pad can add another 10-20 degree buffer that makes a warmer weather bag viable in colder conditions

Glad to hear you’ve managed to find at least a couple decent people on there! I agree that there’s so much potential that’s kneecapped by constantly trying to upsell you on shit (and generally existing in a world where you even have to “market” yourself). Even with an incredibly niche set of interests I know for sure that there are plenty of people in the world that share them and a platform to easily connect with them irl would be incredible. But living in the worst timeline we can only suffer through the often demoralizing grind of online dating until we find a speck of gold in the mud.

What if she’s trained to detect harmful chemicals but just keeps sniffing them out in water supplies and schoolyards? And then the investigation snowballs into dueling the DuPont ceo over a giant acid waterfall or something

Damn if only he could realize that his hypothetical where people stop building houses because the product of their labor is stolen from them doesn’t result in production halting because they still need to, you know, survive. Would be crazy if we were already living in a world where people’s houses are constantly taken from them for not “producing enough” from his perspective.

Idk how you can be so thoroughly clueless about the most basic structure of material incentives driving production even at the baby brained yeoman farmer ass level he’s speaking on. Yes, clearly every true manly man would build his own house on his own land exploiting the natural resources he owns (that are entirely sufficient to build a complete house) if not for the damn women stealing them after. That’s definitely how it worked in the good ol days when you just hopped in your wagon, headed west, shot the first brown person you saw, and instantly created a completely self sufficient homestead

I actually met a pasty 6’+ trans woman there and she had very positive impressions of the country, of course ymmv. The heat might be more of in issue in Japan than Mexico though, 90+ with high humidity well into September in Tokyo while Mexico City was low 80s in April/June.

I work in the spreadsheet factory but have been fully remote for almost 3 years, lost the only reason I had for staying in the US so I’ve become one of those gentrifying digital nomads

I’ve been spending this year living in different countries for a few months each to see where I want to ultimately end up. Been to Mexico, Japan, and currently Korea. I think Japan is by far the most trans friendly of those three, I met a lot of super cool trans/nb/gender nonconforming people there and the vibes were really good. Ofc I can only speak from second hand experience as a cis guy but it seemed like a really welcoming place overall.

Mexico City has a pretty sizable lgbtq+ community, my trans brother and his husband have lived there for two years with no issues. People are still generally less open about it though and I’d be wary of anywhere outside of CDMX as they tend to be much more catholic/reactionary.

Korea is uhhh not a good place to be a cis woman let alone gay or trans. Some of the men here can be incredibly hostile and outright violent to anyone outside their narrow range of “acceptability”. I’ve had numerous friends get harassed and assaulted by drunk assholes on the street before. 1/10 would not recommend

Taiwan, Vietnam, and Thailand are next up and from what I’ve heard are some of the most trans friendly places in Asia, I can keep you posted on how that pans out lol

I’ve had some close encounters with a moose, a mountain lion, and a lot of bears but they’re not really “unnerving”. The scariest thing to find in the middle of nowhere is definitely signs of human activity when you think you’re all alone. Crude shelters, weird little effigies, anything that makes me feel like I’m trespassing into someone’s space. Makes me very paranoid about if I’m being observed and how well they’re going to take it

Many of them do actually! The elevation is quite high around Zion/Bryce and gets a lot of rain, it’s loaded with cool foliage. Seconding that Utah is incredibly beautiful, my personal favorite nature in the entire continental US. If you’re into backpacking or any kind of outdoor shenanigans I can’t recommend it enough

Looks like typical gun fetishist stuff, what makes them Nazi bullet casings specifically? 9mm Luger is just the name for “normal” 9x19 rounds as opposed to 9mm Makarov. The big one is a .50 AE which is only used by chuds overcompensating with the largest possible pistol

I find it far more rewarding when I go into it with zero expectations and just kinda tease the real personality out of someone. I think practicing the ability to cut through all the bullshit is itself a worthy endeavor regardless of the outcome
