The idea is the People unite against the Oligarchs, unless you enjoy bickering about crumbs, which you appear eager to do.

On a more professional/advanced level I agree.

But for average users, they accomplish 90% identical tasks, but Krita, while less mature, is more intuitively designed (superiorly designed I would argue), and uses better algorithms for things like select & fill.

Also Krita is less ugly. Sorry, I'm notoriously shallow.

PopOS (scroll down to the "Pop_OS with Nvidia" link).

It is tailored for Nvidia cards, is Debian(Ubuntu) based, & super friendly for new users.

EDIT: Here's a link to the 24.04 release that provides only the Cosmic desktop environment (no X11, no gnome or kde). This is what I use, but it's in alpha so user beware.

People use Vim to look cool?

It's a brave new World.

If you haven't already, try Flatseal, it's a gui to deal w/ Flatpak permission (such a PITA).

The last time I broke my system, it was because I removed a folder called /home/monstrosity/home/monstrosity/.

When I deleted the weird duplicate home folder, it broke the entire desktop environment & I had to use the terminal to log in and reinstall. I have no idea which of my numerous 'fucking around' sessions caused any of it lol

Absolutely! I never break my system the same way twice.

I might recommend PopOs. It is also based on Ubuntu, is easy to use for beginners & tailored specifically for use with Nvidia. I've had great luck w/ my laptop that has Optimus.

Test it with a USB first. The link I provided is an alpha version of their latest release but you can also try the older, more stable version here.
