This is just the spending bill, which doesn't include the tariffs which are just taxes on imports that get passed on to us. So when they say middle class families will save money, they don't. It's just broken into seperate parts so they can say "it's good for you" and tell people to ignore the tarrifs, which will more than offset any benefits and drain money faster from the lower/middle class up to those with mass wealth.

I think a lot of it is that people don't view things as finite, they for some reason think every dollar they make is a new dollar that came from nowhere and when they spend it, it goes no where. It's easier to not look at the big picture of where the money flows, and just tunnel vision what is happening directly to themselves and hope someone else fixes things because they don't have time/money to address anything.

Tax wealth not work is a great way to pitch it to people as well. It doesn't matter if your working 30,40,50,60+ hour weeks, whether you make 10,20,30,50,100,200 dollars an hour. That's not what they are pitching to increase taxes on. They want to cut taxes on workers.

I've done baby chicks 4 times over the years and it's always been different. The most rediculous one I did was taking the baby chicks (3-5 days old) and putting them in a hamper with pine chips at the bottom. Then put a feeder and water dispenser in there. I hung a heat lamp with a shoelace from a shower curtain rod I had extra. Every night when id shower id turn off the light and move the rod to the wall outside the curtain and put the basket on the bathroom floor. Sweep anything that may have come out of the basket up and then shower which would wash away anything left in the tub. Dry off put them back and when they were old enough/ bold enough to jump out of the tub, I integrated them with the few I had outside.

It was so dumb... But they chicks saw us whenever we went to see them and were guaranteed to have either me or my spouse in there at least 4 times a day, so we would see their food/water levels, and between the area being cleaned nightly and the exhaust vent for the bathroom, it didn't even really smell. Having water from the tub/sink right there was great.

Sometimes stupid ideas work out.

Oh cool, the egg production here slowed a bit too but I assumed it was do to the week of bad heat and being sedentary waiting it out, but that was just a guess off no real science. How old are your Pullets? Are they brand new? Baby chicks are always a lot of fun. (And sometimes hassle)

Nice! What breed was that from? I don't get any white eggs

Taxing individual companies rather than all people/companies. So if the chips are cheaper to make over seas, and servers are cheaper to assemble over seas, and they can get taxed less by existing over seas.. why wouldn't they just move their entire operation over seas at that point.

If it were websites made with AI, why wouldn't Kagi find them just the same? Search engines just search key terms. Can't see how it would know if the term was typed by a person or a bot. That said I used SearchXNG and it wasn't bad.

The article basically says Indonesia and the Philippines aren't importing any rice so the demand is way down, bringing the prices back to what they were at before the prices jumped apparently.

Way down is apparently around the price in 2022/2023

Oh it's going to be far worse, I just checked who it was. Musk said he's going to bring Vine's archive into "Grok Imagine.".

So AI vine, because Twitter bought vine in 2012, so they must own the rights https://techcrunch.com/2025/08/04/elon-musk-says-hes-bringing-back-vines-archive/

It happens, maybe you were thinking about vine, I heard someone rich saying they wanted to bring that back

Most of our eggs are on the jumbo side, we got a few tiny ones now from hens that are just hitting the age, but I've got one hen that just spits out huge eggs. I posted an 85g 8 months ago on here, but now this one is 100

Is this a decent OS to move users off Win too that I won't have to do a lot of remote maintenance on? I have a few varied OS's installed on machines around and Cinnamon I have found to look/feel a lot like Windows 7 which would benefit the learning curve for family/friends looking or needing to find an OS to install on a machine that isn't newer.

Curious if anyone has used this, and if so if it is a good fit for those 60+ aged family members and such. They have all used Windows for work at least a decent amount, so keeping things similar is always good. A decent App Store would be nice though. I hated the default store in Pop_OS.

If I could say do updates and reboot every once in awhile and you should be fine it'd be great. Remoting in with RustDesk and sudo Apt Update/Upgrade being all that is needed also would be great, but you know how that goes. Someone will break something, and I just want something intuitive enough that they won't do it often.

The U.S. is both for hating immigrants, and made of immigrants. I would like to know (doesn't matter where you live) what were your experiences of having immigrants in your life, for me... I'd say the man who drives me to work hardest isn't my father, it's my neighbor who busted his ass daily working on cars, yards work, anything. He hasn't had a day of rest since I moved in 3+ years ago it seems.... But it's what he chooses. When I got chickens, he wanted in, and got yelled at by his wife. So now I find random corn kernels and feed thrown whenever his wife is gone lol. 35 years on this earth. I actually judge where I rent off if I have neighbors who aren't white. That makes me racist I guess. But seriously, what's your story of why humans are fucking human.

"The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has removed an explicit ban on "segregated facilities" like waiting rooms, restaurants and drinking fountains for federal contractors"

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good place you can chat with people casually without the intent of it being romantically involved. Every app seems to be all about bots, sexual interactions, and such.

Just looking for people interested in chatting via text and such (really don't understand why people like video chats, I could see if it were romantically inclined perks in that, but it's not for that). Intent I believe is to combat loneliness without having to enter into something where one party is hoping to find a relationship or fuck buddy.

Honestly couldn't even care if names are exchanged.

Egg Size (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

So my eggs are usually pretty set in size, and it is hard to tell in the photo but one of my hens missed a day (unusual for her) and I assumed it was because it was cold and maybe she'd slow her laying as I am used to raising chickens in Florida, and now in the Nashville area so it has been in the 20s at night lately. The next day she laid this mammoth egg. This batch(?) of chickens is young so I getting to know them still. Should I be concerned for any reason about this, or is it possible she is still growing and is just going to lay Jumbo sized eggs in the future?
