I use freetube without anything but the issue is that my VPN is blocked now, and a self hosted invidious or piped won't help with that, right? I imagine I'm going to need some kind of split for the VPN, where some apps don't use VPN.

But even freetube is somewhat clumsy for queueing videos and proper theater mode without borders. Using Youtube is becoming more and more cumbersome lol.

I wish there was a simple executable that pre-downloads and buffers my youtube channel videos and then just launches an optimized local web server that has good UX.

I guess my main point is that Elon doesn't really have a "base" any more. Neither the neoliberal technologists and futurists he charmed nor MAGA are on his side any more. He burned his bridges with public support. So he only has his money to influence representatives. And is empire is crumbling too.

What prompted me is that the neoliberal mainstream press and social media is jumping on this as if it was a turning point. This is another "Trump is in deep trouble now!" after he or someone else said something.

PPS: If Thiel backs the impeachment Thiel will become president and that might align with their goals to dismantle democracy in the US.

Elon Musk isn't really part of MAGA though. He joined Trump and MAGA shortly before the election and now got chewed up by Trump like anyone else did. Nobody on the Republican side gives a shit about him. With his money he can make trouble but thinking this is a turning point is silly. It's just more chaos.

Divide and conquer. Non state-actors and special interest have a far easier time attacking a hundred small entities than one big one. Because people have much less bandwidth to track all this shit than it is to spread it around. See ALEC and the strategy behind state rights.
