I was obsessed, played it to death. I was so sad when they shut it down.

I was obsessed with Myst, I loved the whole series, except maybe Myst 5. I so wanted Uru to turn into something.

When my dad gave me Myst, I had no idea what CD-ROMs were, so I put it in the cd player. Then he showed me the fancy new family Compaq computer and it's amazing CD ROM drive.

Did you play the new 3D version of Riven? I've never had so much childhood nostalgia as I did with that!

I like Doctor Who, but acknowledge it's entirely BS. He says, "Time travel doesn't work that way." You must accept that no plot holes can be filled by a time machine that can go anywhere, anytime. There would never be a plot if he could go back and fix it anyway, so we are stuck in a world where everything happens for maximum drama only. I can see why it's exhausting.

This surprises me, but it would make sense if you aren't into character dramas. Is that the case?

After watching Andor, I didn't like Rogue One as much because it was very clear that Andor was 100% Tony Gilroy, and Rogue One was 50% Tony Gilroy Style and 50% OG Star Wars style. I realized I didn't like the classic Star Wars style, and whenever the soundtrack got more classic, I cringed.

As a fan of The Expanse and James S.A. Corey. I get it. I love the show and think it's great, but I know it is not for everyone.

I appreciate that people have found solutions for avoiding materials that can become dangerous when overheated. I, too, have gone on PFOA-free journeys.

But oh my god, that egg is swimming in oil! I don't want that many calories, and I don't want to feel a greasy egg in my mouth.

I understand this solution is great for many people, and they should be proud and happy that they have reached their Teflon-free goals.

But as a person who can't digest high amounts of fats without consequences and watches their calories, this is only a solution for people who love bathing their food in oil. I also avoid saturated fats, which are superior for their non-stick properties. I want to use olive oil, nothing else.

But fine, I will try it on my stainless pan and see what happens. Olive oil, heat to smoke, wipe, then a small amount of olive oil again for normal cooking.

If it works I'll be thrilled. If not, back to my trusty teflons that never fail me. Wish me luck! Got any more tips?

This is the hard hitting journalism Canada needs 😄

Which behavior are you referring to?

Belgium and the Netherlands' specific political turmoil has nothing to do with proportional representation and only concerns the local issues their citizens believe in and the parties in contention over them. The same happens in first-past-the-post countries with higher frequency and more volatility while concentrating power in more extreme parties, like the United States.

On top of that, being compared to the Netherlands and Belgium is flattering. They've both had fewer elections than Canada since 1945 Higher voter turnout, Parliamentary term completion rates are 14 and 15% higher therefore less policy lurch

Countries with proportional representation show that if a party’s policies deviate significantly from mainstream opinion, other parties will unite to exclude them from power. This is an additional check and balance that Canada doesn't have, and this additional protection has been performed in Belgium and the Netherlands before.

No system of government will make a conflict-free paradise, but we know that proportional representation will lead to a more civilized and balanced representation of their citizens' values.

we should absolutely force Scheer to move in with them for the month.>

Haha yes! That's something I can get behind. 😂

I, too, find his behaviour and politics so distressing these days that I get where you are coming from.

But I decided I didn't want to feel that way. So, I redirected the time and energy I used to doomscroll into setting a better example and doing something about it.

I joined Fairvote.ca and organized for their recent door hanger campaign to raise awareness on proportional representation. I also attend their monthly Zoom meetings to educate myself on how proportional representation works, how it reduces polarisation, and how it decreases the inflammatory and partisan words in political speech.

I'm shocked at how many people in my life suddenly perked up and said, " Where can I learn more?"

I know you didn't ask, but this polarised hate feels bad, and it doesn't hurt to share a way of coping that has made my life more centred.

Sometimes, when uploading to some sites, if I upload images with resolution and size within the correct parameters, the server doesn't re-compress the images. If the images do get compressed, then they come out looking degraded.

I don't know if those settings are per-server.

Does anyone know if there is a preferred resolution, file type and file size for photos and videos on pixelfed in general or pixelfed.ca?

Looks like it will take some time to figure it out, but the developer ljdawson is looking into Lemmy support for sync.

This app is so smooth, and caching posts and comments for offline use while on the plane or in low reception areas is a clutch feature for me.
