Krogers sucks for a ton of reasons, but at least ONE near me is union (I think its a bland one but hey, they at least offer above 15 for starting). The self checkout peeps are also usually pretty nice, and generally don't check if the automated fascist complains that you scanned something wrong.

If you want something more comedic, or gaming based, I'd suggest checking out Wayneradiotv/the RTVS crew. Fair warning, a bit younger (mid to late 20s, I think one is 30.) Pretty big crew, all are good friends, very much goofy and silly and always looking for a bit. Definitely not for everyone, but its junk food content I don't have to feel bad about because they're all genuinely good people, have at minimum decent politics, and are genuinely funny. Extremely trans and LGBT friendly , pro-Palestine, etc.

Jokes range from 9/11 being a reoccurring gag, the main streamer being "called out" for being the white cis-het of the group, being "viewer hostile" to avoid parasocial weirdos, enjoying bad AI shit, and you usual internet funnies. One streamer had to reupload a vod after it ended with a usual guest saying "All crackers should die". They have also a weird way of being related to a lot of internet culture, like the moonbase alpha video, lots of tumblr memes, and a series which hit it big in 2020.

The only problem is I have no idea where to direct someone new to them. Its too much of a collective art piece.

Plant snap? Decent (as in shockingly good for a free app, surprised they haven't ruined it yet) identification, I would suggest googling whatever it says anyway, as it can be a bit misleading or wrong. IE: once it said blackberry species X and it was blackberry species Y, one native, one not.

I don't pay for it but a lot of places will also list some plants as toxic but if you look at it you have to eat a specific part, or its a specific reaction. Could kill you from touching it, could be toxic only to cats during summer. So probably of limited use if its just a yes/no/maybe box.

I do wish there were better options for determining native-ness. Absolutely sucks to think something is, propagate it, then realize nope, its NATURALIZED from a nearby state and is a bit problematic in your specific area. Prairie moon seeds somehow has the most clear guides, but only if they're selling it (as in, they only list species they have/had and their ranges, so no luck from them).

I have a chevy volt. Its a (weird) hybrid so slightly different (I think it runs the engine, but it CAN run it standing still. When it needs heat, plugged in it hums differently then unplugged.) Even though its like 8 years old at this point, even it knows to run to keep itself warm. It 100% has to be either cheapness, lazy design, or unwillingness to cut range in winter. But I mean... I can still drive just fine and it was near 0F last night lol.

DS was good, but the 3DS saw the switch to the soulless 3D mobile phone ascetic that dominates low end gaming now.

I got a little sad when my character told a bigot to shut up, he told me some bs, and I called him out for being foreign too. (one of the better options given)

I then blow him up with a fireball after the crowd agrees with me and turns on him. Of course, the game sees it as murder, because they didn't code it to be different, but damn in my canon that guy is a pile of soot. It kinda sucks that only RPGs like BG3 are brave enough to take the stance of "Remove all bigots by force if needed", but only because killing Evil McMurderlord is fun. But I'm glad at least they let you say it.

Some people do it, some grow it in more appropriate areas. But reintroducing it requires the actual land, and an effort to clean it of invasives and anything else that caused it's status previously.

For human use, see https://youtu.be/CpM5-xJZKbQ . Guy grows it for NAC use. Fair warning that channel is NSFW and the guy can be a bit abrasive but he does some good work putting out high quality footage of a diverse range of plants. And in this case, shows off someone trying to stem the harm of humans on their environment.

Also, from what I gather, most of the damage is from white people misusing peyote, and the US government punishing anyone who isn't NAC related who tries to grow it.

Edit: Also I see the other comments, that channel is Crime Pays But Botany Doesn't. Look around for his intro to botany and guerilla gardening videos. Importantly, you'll want to look for other content specific to your local area! I think one of his guerilla gardening was in California so its pretty specific. The USDA has some ok resources, lots of universities have good guides on planting native (search your area, state, city, etc, plus native or sustainable gardening), and https://www.prairiemoon.com/ has some good search tools to show seed local to your area. They can be a bit pricey, but it can be a good start.

Also its important to just have fun! I don't worry about planting entirely local or native. Even if you plant just a few plants, it can be a good start! Gardeners tend to be pretty good people, so don't be afraid to ask around either.

Grew up in a pretty traditionally conservative family and environment. Had several terrible experiences with the American healthcare system. My family, despite being bad, at least mostly legitimately believed that we shouldn't hate anyone else (excepting maybe gays and atheists lmao), so I wasn't the worst off. Early teen years I nearly got dragged into true chud shit, gamergate, etc. Luckily I kinda snapped out of it.

I got my mind on the right path when I learned about what Liberalism was from Victoria 2 of all things. Really opened me up to looking at politics in reality. Then I started to realize the socialists of that game were the good guys. Seeing them support healthcare was a brain changer. Slowly picked up more and more socialist ideas, and began identifying as a "fellow traveler", and from there became more and more fed up with liberals and conservatives.

I've voted for fucking Jeb (2016? primary, in a closed state), Hilldog, and Bernie like 3 times. Now I'd only vote for Parenti, the ghost of Lenin, and all of the politicians to slip on a banana peel.

One thing that hasn't changed is I feel like I always liked John Brown. Even as a chud I saw him as a true believer in personal freedom, someone actually getting shit done. From little seeds john-brown.

Americans insist on using exact conversions, which makes switching to metric harder because if you actually used metric. Honestly, at this point I'm convinced its an effort to keep metric "unintuitive" by teaching exact vs teaching it from a more native approach.

Ironically, my conservative schooling did better by comparing a gram to a fly, km to half a mile, etc.
