Not gonna lie, I had no idea until this post that "mansplaining" was strictly considered male behavior. I've had women do the same thing when I'm in spaces or situations that are traditionally female dominated, and figured that "mansplaining" was the appropriate descriptor for that. TIL.

Who tf is still using on-prem SharePoint? You'd think all orgs would have migrated to Sharepoint Online by now.

This was a big struggle for me at first. It used to be that I'd wake up on Saturday, knock out any chores, then go sit at the bar all day. I've found that my weekends are so much more interesting and full now, and feel so much longer.

For example, I'm off today and took a nice walk with my dog. We saw several cute cats then chatted with neighbors. Then I went shopping and got a new book, and they gave me a coupon for a coffee so I sat in their café and read for a while. Grabbed some food then charged my car. Got home and beat an absolutely amazing videogame (Spiritfarer) and it's only 2:30pm - I still have half a day to do whatever I want! I'll probably hang out with a buddy for a while, take another walk with the pup, maybe cook a nice dinner, and videochat with a crush (we have a date tomorrow).

It does take time and effort to get your mind out of the cycle of just doing things to get them done so you can go drink, but trust that life is so much more fulfilling once you get there.

I absolutely loved the first season! It was so wholesome and cute, and the animation is gorgeous.

I was drinking 6-7 days a week, 6-12 beers per day. So roughly 60 beers per week. On vacation I'd easily hit 100 beers per week.

I'll be 4 months sober this Friday.

I misread this as "Jennifer Lopez" and was deeply impressed that a celebrity singer/actress had such incredible cooking skills.

Strong disagree. You can absolutely be friendly with coworkers and enjoy working with them without crossing the boundary into your personal life, and this is usually the best for long-term happiness at work. This is especially beneficial whenever people change roles and move to management - it's exceptionally difficult to be a manager to a friend.

Any company culture that expects you to be friends with your coworkers is a dumpster fire. Run quickly.

I've worked in my current office for two years and don't know the first thing about any of my coworkers beyond their name and specialization. No clue if they're married or have kids, or what they do on the weekend. We never chit-chat. I am infinitely happier here than anywhere I've worked in the past.

It feels somewhat similar to how lesbians aren't seen as "threatening" as gay men. If it's doesn't "threaten" fragile cis straight men then it's not in the front of the discussion.

Hear me out: Not drinking at all and smoking weed instead

I like to burn movies and shows to play on my CRT. It feels a bit more authentic than streaming.

I've been running a full tower Windows server with a dozen drives for a decade and decided to downsize. This ministack does everything I need at a fraction of the power, noise, and heat.

I use it primarily for Plex but also host a few games servers for buddies. It fits perfectly in my entertainment center.

Spent around $200 on the Mac Mini plus $600 on the drives and enclosures. I'm using SoftRAID for RAID1.

I’ve started at a medium-sized org (~1500 users) that has over a dozen global admins in 365, plus another 80 users with various 365 admin access. Does anyone have any tips for how to identify what access the users actually need?

I tried punching up a questionnaire with all of the available options, but my test group reported that it was too convoluted. I’m not sure how I can better identify their needs without interviewing them one-on-one, or just ripping away access and seeing who screams.

I use Google Assistant for most of my home automation. Does anyone have any particular models they recommend for deadbolts? I'd like to be able to automatically lock my front door when I go to sleep.

I've recently rekindled my love for Katamari Damacy and it made me wonder if there's any other amazing cult classics out there that aren't talked about these days. What are your recommendations?

Many businesses are returning to the office, which is resulting in workers who prefer fully remote or hybrid work to resign from their positions. If they had asked their job to include specifics about the remote/hybrid policies in their work contract, they would be locked into those policies and could not be forced back into the office.

Never take for granted that the terms of your employment will stay the same unless there is a signed contract ensuring it.
