Not sure. Putin has other means of staying in power, like killing political opponents, disillusion and propaganda. The reason he invaded Ukraine is because he is an irredentist bozo that wants his beloved Soviet Union back, not because he was threatened.

It doesn’t matter how “elite” your military equipment is or how many billion dollars it is worth, a war is fought by boots on the ground and the geography favours the defender.

It's not about achieving anything, it's about staying in power. Who cares if millions die if some pedophile gets what he wants?

I honestly blame corporations rather than the availability to idiots.

Back in the Wild West internet days, things existed simply because people thought they were funny or hilarious, now things only exist if they garner some clout or can generate ad revenue. I don't know how much of that is an inherently human trait, but I feel like society wasn't so super-focused on personal success and self-image/confidence as it has been the past maybe 8 years. Or it was and I never noticed until then.

Edit: thinking more about it, availability might be a contributing factor to this, so you're probably not wrong.

I see the same shit here in Germany. Not a US-exclusive problem.

Social media was a mistake.

No wonder the Scots wanted to secede from this mess.

I abandoned my dreams and all it did was make me too depressed to do the other 5 things on the list.

Better a wrong anthem than that travesty that Libya pulled.

It's grammatically correct, so maybe just a little jab towards Winnie the Ping.

Nah, dude, he is just stupid. That's very on-brand for him. We are talking about a guy that suggested injecting bleach to kill the covid virus in 2020 and that was back when his dementia wasn't ravaging him as hard as it does now.

He is just a sociopath that faced zero consequences for his behavior throughout his whole life and now that his brain cannot keep up with the lies he constructed, it's becoming more and more obvious. The funny thing is that this interview was published by the White House, so even his bootlickers are so fed up with him that they don't really care to protect him anymore.

Israel will just cry "anti-semitism" and continue to do what they are doing. They don't even need a token gesture to continue being supported by most of the Western states.

Didn't read the article, but the title is probably just your run-of-the-mill engagement bait and only tangentially related to the content. It's 2025 after all.

This community, under the guise of Christianity and discussion thereof, is just a place filled with conspiracy theories and hatred.

Exhibit 1: Bigoted, trans- and homophobic video. The comment section shows heavy mod abuse.

Exhibits 2 and 3: Conspiracy theory. Again comment section is heavily "moderated".

All of those posts are mod-posts because the community locked for non-moderators to create posts in. Is this really the kind of community that tchncs wants to foster?

Hey,

I'm noticing that I get many broken comment chains and comments failing to load. Is that just for me or does anybody else experience issues. I guess, it started when I was updating the mail address linked to this account a couple weeks back. The token I got with the email to verify my address was rejected (Invalid token) and since then, I'm having issues. My settings show the correct email and I cannot send a new token to verify (it says nothing about verification status). It was, probably incidentally, at the evening of when the lemmy update got installed onto this instance, so maybe I've chosen a bad time for the mail change.

Here is a thread that showcases my problem:

Maybe someone knows what's wrong.

Thanks in advance!
