Need to get this off my chest. Magic Research looks like an Excel sheet at first, but hour after hour I feel the love and thoughts the devs have put into the game. I loved Armory & Machine, but never found a game that quite scratched that itch.
In Magic Research you are a wizard, accumumulate Mana, build your own sorcery school, explore dungeons, craft better equipment, automate using your apprentices, research new spells and potions. A lot of secrets are unlocked through a pretty well written story. You can prestige to earn bonusses. And one of the best things: Instead of away-progressing, you collect "time pieces" to invest or speed up certain parts or the whole game, which makes being off more rewarding and less "I HAVE TO CHECK MY PHONE".
The game costs 3,50 Euros or so in the Play Store, but was totally worth it for me. No ads, no bullshit, just love for fantasy friends. Praise over.

So since I updated the app I've had no idle rewards when I return to the game. No popup to choose 2x for ad or 3x for gems. Happens if I leave the game using my Home button or if I use the game's close screen.

This has basically stopped all progress because the last 10m or so of a level goes up in price exponentially and you get nowhere while actually playing.

Combine this with the previous update which put ads on just about every mechanic of the game and I'm about done with the whole thing. Oh and one of the daily tasks is to claim idle rewards, which is impossible now. Great.

I downloaded this game a few days ago to try and find something to pass the time. Very soon though, I was addicted to the game. I started researching some strategies to get onto the leaderboard. These are some of the things I found that are helpful.

  1. Passive abilities: Passives are one of the most useful items in the game. If used correctly, the stacked boosts can earn you tons of points. One of the best is the Passive Hunter upgrade. Using this, you can buy other cheap passives to increase your free restocks.
  2. Shop Restock Prices: Every time you roll the dice, the shop restock price is increased. During the last few rolls of your run, these might get very expensive, so the best idea is to save your rolls and click to put a flag on the item that you want. This will make it so that you do not waste any rolls, and therefore do not increase the prices.
  3. Low Dice, Low Numbers: Stacking passive abilities is the best way to get onto the leaderboard, but what is the best way? The dice that I used on my best runs were 5 dice with 5 dots on each. This gets you the <6 dice, the prime number of dice, the <13 roll number, the numeric only multiplier, the no 99s rolled, the reroll multiplier, and the Yahtzee multiplier. On one side of three of the dice, I added multipliers until 99. This is because of the passive that multiplies the top three dice by 10. I also used glue on those faces instead of weights because there are no weight passives.

  1. Beware of Incrementors: On some of my first runs using this strategy, I accidentally bought some of the incrementor passives. I did not realize until I rolled my dice, and by then it was too late. I had lost all of the <13 roll passives, the no 99’s passives, and more. I always watch what I am buying now to keep all of my buffs.
  2. All Quantities X2: When I first saw this passive I was amazed “All die faces and passive abilities that reference the total quantity of dice in play will instead use double the dice in play”. This may seem good, but what it means is that instead of 5 dice, it will count there being 10 dice. This is good for the >100 and >1000 dice passives, but in this case, they make you lose your <6 dice passive buffs.

  1. Don’t give up on a run: On the run that earned me the 36th spot on the leaderboard, I had messed up a couple of times. On accident, I replaced one of the fives on my dice with another number, so there were no fives. If there are no fives on the dice, then I cannot use the Numeric Set All Die Faces upgrade in the shop because there are no fives on the dice. After some thinking, I found a way to fix this. I swapped one of the faces on the dice with another face that was a five. Then I used the Numeric Set All Die Faces upgrade to change all of the die faces on both dice to fives. I still had over 1000 rolls left, so I kept on buying passives and rerolling. I had gotten lucky, and around the early game I had gotten the Passive Hunter, the Numeric Only upgrades, and the Scavenger upgrade that made it easier to get free rerolls. At around 800 rolls left, I had nothing to do but sit back and roll the dice. I had bought all of the passives that affected my dice except for one that got too expensive to buy. (I am playing on the free version. The leaderboard and other aspects of the playing experience may differ if you have bought the full game.)

I hope that this post was not boring to you, but if it was, you probably just scrolled. If you did read it, then thank you! I hope that you check out the game and use some of these strategies.

I was planning to create a game which is RPG IDLE game I had post before with a prototype on how the game play would be like also I have some other videos

what I was planning to do is interacted idle game like when u want to play u can play as normal not automated and challenge bosses and farm things when you feel like you don't have time you can choose the second option which is afk farming

also wanna do updates like expansions were like there is main city, story, currencies and items

when new expansions release all you have to do is update the game and all new story, city, level, system , items, currencies and more.

All Content are soloable

looks like I can't upload videos put here one of the examples also check this post my old post

Hey guys!

So, due to the reaction of people wanting an HTML build of the game, I instantly nuked the previous post and decided to make one only if I manage to make a build that would work without it being downloadable. I didn't really realise the fact that a lot of things on itch can be malware, so I completely understand the fear of downloading a zip file. I should have expected it, and for that I am sorry.Anyways, after a couple of days of research and finding the tiny obscure bug (finally also asking on help on platforms other than discord and my friends) I finally did it! It isn't a perfect build, as it doesn't include all the content I wanted to make for the game jam, or the HTML build does not include saving, but due to the fact that the game is quite short (the amount of content hasn't been changed) then I won't focus on it.If there will be enough support I might find time and energy to put it on Steam (with a lot more content obviously), so that I don't have to worry about more bugs with the html version.

I hope you enjoy it!

Edit (15/01/2024): Hey guys! Thanks for the support and the massive amount of feedback. I will be fixing a lot of the issues listed, especially making Quality Paper better, Auto Restocking a bit cheaper, capping out Pressure Value, making unlockable material abilities, and nerfing the price of Auto Pressing. The new version will come out soon.
