The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. People fought wars to end monarchy, slavery, fascism. Wanting to be left alone isn't the mark of a good person. Good deeds are what make a good person. It is your actions, not your beliefs, that make you a good person.

You don't need to bombard people with your ideas. You need to stand up for them.

I find it hilarious that the reason these payment companies requested sites pull their NSFW content was due to direct action by a puritanical activist group but people upset by it not only don't care enough to participate in direct action themselves but won't even put their real name on a petition. Say what you want about right wing nut jobs, but they at least care enough about their ideas that they go out and make a difference.

Change.org is a private, for-profit, venture-backed company. Your money goes to their executives.

They're both "linters". They analyze your code without executing it, known as "static analysis", and highlight logical and stylistic errors.

Pylint will give you warnings if you try to feed a variable that holds an integer into a function that works on strings or if you deviate from python's suggested style guide. Python doesn't check data types until you actually run your code, so errors with data types won't be caught until your program crashes. Using pylint allows you to get warnings before actually executing your code. Note that Python allows for type hinting which allows you to tell linters what data types variables and functions are allowed to be. Python itself ignores type hints when executing code.

Black automatically formats your code to adhere to Python's suggested style guide. Unlike something like Pylint, it cannot be configured to ignore certain style rules. All projects using Black will have the same style. Python gives a lot of leeway in how you can format valid code, but it's difficult for programmers to read code in dozens of different styles. Most languages have come up with their own style guide. For example, your first line does not match the suggested style. All imports should be on their own line. If you don't want to remeber all the rules yourself, you can use Black to format your code in a way everyone is agreeable with.

Ah yes...that's why I downloaded them too...

It's not pessimistic if it's the likely outcome.

Alright, this is just silly.

So far the only thing they haven't been allowed to show is an image of the prophet Muhammad.

Definitely! That's why I said it's possible non-consenting stuff took place after the video ends. It's entirely possible, but people don't go to jail because it's possible they committed a crime.

I also don't believe that the Crown even argued that consent was revoked. I believe their argument was she was too drunk to consent so what she said in the video doesn't matter. Again, possible, but they couldn't prove that beyond a doubt.

I've recently started using the Boost for Lemmy app on my phone and it's amazing. I was using Liftoff before but I'm switching over. However, I've noticed an issue. When I browse through communities using Liftoff I see a lot more posts and comments than when I use Boost.

I figured this was an issue with Boost at first, but when I used my computer to edit these screenshots I noticed the same thing happens in my browser!

Opening up https://lemmy.world/c/boostforlemmy I see all the posts that Liftoff shows. Of course I'm not logged in since my account is on Lemmy.ca.

When I log into Lemmy.ca and view the community though: https://lemmy.ca/c/boostforlemmy@lemmy.world I only see the posts that Boost shows! Many posts are now missing!

I figured this is an issue with Lemmy.ca blocking stuff. But wait! The most recent post (titled "Bug: Hiding all read posts also hides...") has the URL https://lemmy.world/post/6954944 which, of course, does not allow me to comment on since I'm not logged in. If I search for that post through Lemmy.ca I find the equivalent post with the URL: https://lemmy.ca/post/7377534 which now allows me to comment on it through my Lemmy.ca account.

Does any one know what's going on here? Clearly Lemmy.ca can "see" all the posts in the BoostForLemmy community on Lemmy.world. Even Liftoff manages to show all of them! So why does my browser and Boost for Lemmy not show everything unless I specifically search it out?

I made this a while back to use as a background for my phone. What do you think?
