Open source code isn’t immune to backdoors. It’s impossible to exhaustively test every interaction in massive code bases for unintended behavior.
The upside of open source is that a well intentioned person might find a backdoor and get it fixed. Up until then it might be someone’s backdoor.

Nvidia drivers are alright these days but otherwise yeah. Most games are playable on Linux at this point with the huge exception of most online games with any anti cheat.

You can break off another little piece, take it to any paint store, and get a color matched paint. You’ll want a base with a similar sheen and texture.
You may be able to just touch up that section if the match is really good. You’ll probably need to repaint the whole door if you want it to look perfect but then it might not match the other cabinets.
Still good to see a positive result from a reputable source even if it’s just a simulation. Knowing that it requires an unlikely structure to form means that the handful of negative experimental results aren’t very conclusive either.
