I did cave in and use Linux myself, but at least I don't eat beans.

Beansbros on Lemmy is what keeps me away. Can't go one damn day without hearing about beans beans beans, its like a cult

Funny how I was able to get the pun even though I was not familiar with "je ne sais quoi"

I'm surprised how Microsoft just took all of Google's deliberate sabotages without any fuss.

Though in the end what really put the nail on the coffin was Pokémon Go.

They are gatekeeping which apps you can install, not the installation method.

I doubt most people care that much. I do, but I don't know anyone else who does.

But even if I were to lose this, I would not even consider switching to apple (but I would consider switching to something more open).

And a lighter.

They stopped wearing the identifying top hats. Anybody might be secretly wealthy now.

Ironically I can even apply this thinking to matches of the Civilization game. In general I don't do war if I can avoid it, I enjoy just expanding my own country and trying to focus on science and culture. But whenever some country declared war on me, I would defend myself and then move on to invade the aggressor, because I saw conquest as the only way to "win" a war. And then I would think "it's so unfair that every other country now hate me just because I took some cities from the country that attacked me out of the blue".

Then one day I lost some war and the other country didn't take any of my cities. They declared war not because they wanted to conquer me militarily, but because they wanted to stop me from dominating the world in other ways (culturally for example - something I saw as pacific but that also allowed me to win the match and therefore caused others to lose)

Don't think it'll stop if you do switch to Linux.

That might be true for distros like mint, but fedora is usually fine with brand new hardware.

The recovery time is based on how well you're playing. The better you play, the harder it hits (you).

MKW made it much more annoying to recover if you fall behind for any reason, but if you're in first place ahead of everyone else it's mostly the same game as always.
